Starting a thread on beIN SPORT Express, which will debut on Saturday at 12noon ET/9am PT with a 55-minute pre-game show from the studio of Imagina U.S. in Medley, Florida, USA. The studio show will wrap up with a 15-minute review of the day's action at 7pm ET/4pm PT. In between, 3 La Liga games will be shown live on both days.

The following info were made available via Twitter, both by @beinSPORT1USA and the individuals involved:

Hosts: Terri Leigh (English), Carmen Boquin (English and Spanish)
Analyst/Pundit: Ian Paul Joy (former MLS defender. Last club was the Portland Timbers)

Reporters in Spain: Temryss Lane (English), Miguel Serrano (Spanish)

And the assumption is that Ian Paul Joy will be seated closest to the plexiglass, correct?

Correction: Carmen Boquin appears in the Spanish version only in studio with Miguel Serrano and Inez Sainz (TV Azteca of Mexico).

Hot off the DVD recorder from half time of Celta vs Malaga.

Who needs plexiglass when you can have an open table instead? :D

Julian Andrews and Ian Joy are calling the Sevilla vs Getafe match.

One would expect Phil and Ray to call the 3rd La Liga match.

    Who is Julian Andrews?

From what I've seen online, Bein looks fairly high class compared to GolTV's La Liga and FSC's Serie A broadcasts in the past. With an actual studio, on-air talent complete with a real pundit etc. Is this true for those who can watch it?

The beIN SPORT USA set in Medley, Florida makes the set at Rogers Media's CITY-TV in Toronto (FOX Soccer News and Soccer Central) look minor league.

Sevilla vs Getafe pre-game and half-time updates, both pre-taped and not integrated with the match broadcasts themselves quite yet.

The match announcers are doing the half time highlights themselves.

There are technical glitches, as you would expect from Day 1.

The host has first day jitters as well, as one would expect.

    Reposted from the other thread.

An explanation as to why everything on the English network seem so disjointed, with no transitions between the match announcers and the host.

The answer: you have to watch both networks in order to figure out what is going on at Imagina U.S.

    --

The Express halftime update segments in English are done on the fly, with no time to load the script into the prompter.

Because there is only one set and 2 networks, a "fire drill" takes place: Inez Sainz does the half time highlights in Spanish while the English-language match announcers do the half time highlights off camera in English.

Once Inez is done with the Spanish-language half-time show, Terri Leigh has at most 90 seconds to do the half time update in the studio. Her script is on her iPad, not on the prompter.

There is no space available for another studio in Miami.

I suspect that English-language production may have to move to Toronto once beIN SPORT Canada is up and running so that the studio space issue can be resolved: Spanish in Miami, English in Toronto. Phil and Ray can always call a match from Miami even if Terri were to host from Toronto. Dual redundant fibre-optic links will allow seemless transitions between the two locations.

(Other networks have studio shows and match commentators in separate buildings in separate countries. ESPN Deportes Futbol Center is produced from Argos Comunicacion in Tlalnepantla, Mexico even though the match announcers can be in Bristol, CT, USA, Tlalnepantla, Mexico, or Buenos Aires, Argentina. FOX Deportes' studio show is produced from 1440 S Sepulveda in Los Angeles even though the match announcers can be in LA, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, or on site.)

The alternatives are to build a new studio or buy another building with studio space in Miami.

Everything is in flux until the company figures out which partner will launch beIN SPORT Canada and how much studio space is available in Toronto.

I can't believe there is no updates on the current TV situation here. It's like they are happy no matter what with all that programming they couldn't care less to offer any news to loyal fans who love the game so much here especially those leagues (Ligue 1,La Liga & Serie A who knows now even NPower Championship)

I just really hope this situation clears soon & people can get back to watching Messi/Ronaldo/Ibrahimovic play etc or watch their favorite team play who they been waiting so long since the season ended back in May.

The most interesting shots from the jib camera in the studio took place at the end of the day, when the English-language post-game show was shot:

(Post-game show video will have to be re-edited to remove highlights. Will repost later.)

The post-game show after Mallorca vs Espanyol, with all highlights removed:

    One last comment on Saturday:

The Executive Producer hired the right host for the beIN SPORT USA English-language network. Former model. Former soccer news anchor. Jack-of-all-trades. Can write update segments and ad-lib highlights. Canadian citizenship (for CanCon requirements once beIN SPORT Canada is up and running.)

For Sunday, I will record both the English and Spanish networks and try to sync up the videos so that aspiring producers who are reading this thread can see the "fire drill" take place.

    Setting up for Sunday:

I understand that everything will be reversed, with the English-language network having priority use of the studio set.

That means those of you who are watching beIN SPORT en Español on DIRECTV Ch. 426 will notice that the half-time segments would seem disjointed.

DISH Network does NOT offer beIN SPORT en Español. Instead, it offers beIN SPORT USA with English-langauge audio on Ch. 408 and SAP audio (in Spanish) on Ch. 871. That means DISH subscribers do NOT get to see Inez Sainz, Carmen Boquin, Ana Cobos, Miguel Serrano, etc.

Next weekend there is a good 2nd Division game in Spain MADRID B - BARCELONA B.
A lot of good players in this game. I hope beIN has this game at least tape delay

Amazing what magic a hair-stylist and a make-up artist can perform.

beIN SPORT LLC can afford to bring in hair-stylists and make-up artists.

CKND-TV (Global) Winnipeg, being a small market TV station, cannot afford them.

FOX Sports Media Group/FOX Soccer LLC and Rogers Media/Sportsnet better pay attention.

beIN SPORT LLC took its gloves off on Sunday. The soccer TV war is ON. Sheik Hamad Al-Thani is gunning for Rupert Murdoch and Ted Rogers, whether they like it or not.

The Spanish-language pre-game show was on tape, with Ines Sainz, Carmen Boquin, and Miguel Serrano.

The effort Sunday is on the LIVE English-language pre-game show, with Terri Leigh, Ian Joy, and Santiago Solari in the studio. Temryss Lane, Bodo Illgner, and Kay Murray are reporting live from Estadio Bernabeau in Madrid, while Duncan McMath is reporting live from the Camp Nou in Barcelona.

Terri is wearing blue, Temryss is wearing black, and Kay is wearing white. All sleeveless dresses.

    Screen caps later.

As one would expect: several technical glitches, plus stumbles here and there by the talent. Give time to the young production staff to work on their execution, which needs a lot of improvement.

Watching The Express now before the Real Madrid game. Yikes. You thought Soccer Talk Live was bad! I mean it looks great, and they have live reports from the stadiums (I think live ... might be pre-recorded and played back to look live) and I did notice all the fancy jib whatchamacallits ... but it was light on content and energy levels. And the transitions seemed slow ... like Terri Leigh was waiting eons for the graphics to come on screen.

And agreed with the non Phil/Ray announcers comment. Take the int'l feeds please!

Phil Schoen just laughed at a handicapped Guy with what looked like a Green Bay Packers cheesehead on and staring off in the distance. Of course he probably didn't know they Guy was handicapped until the cameraman pulled out on the shot. Hilariously cringey.

Not physically possible for both networks to be live because there is only one studio being shared by 2 networks.

On Saturday, the English-language pre-game was definitely on tape. I suspect that the Spanish-language pre-game may have been on tape as well.

On Sunday, the English-language pre-game was live, but the Spanish-language pre-game was taped.

The half-time fire drill: Ines Sainz did her update first in Spanish while Phil and Ray were doing highlights off camera in English, then Terri Leigh did her update in English LIVE with Duncan McMath reporting from Camp Nou in Barcelona.

I will post clips of the half time fire drill later.

As for the short pre-game fire drill before Barcelona vs Real Sociedad, Terri did her segment from the desk seated with her script on the iPad, while Ines did a standup from the open table. The production crew had to use two different positions for the hosts because there was no time to swap hosts if they were to shoot from the same position.

The jib camera captured the hemlines of both hosts. Terri's blue sleeveless dress had a hemline down to the knees, while Ines was wearing a black mini-dress and a white jacket.

    --

The half time fire drill is NOT a long-term solution, as no pundit was present on either channel.

A 2nd studio is needed, either somewhere else in Miami, or in Toronto.
