Rogers is playing a few minutes at the end of each preseason game. That suggests to me he is not in the plans of NW.
Takeover collapses and Robbie is transfer listed: http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...witter-fans-vent-anger-on-ken-bates-1-4818598 Seems like a desperate attempt to raise funds/shift wages for other parts of the squad.
I was always surprised he hooked onto Championship to begin with. He has some impressive tools but he was far from dominant in MLS or even being one of our best players (he had one good season). For me, he always played uninspired most times. I just don't see an average player in MLS becoming a Championship League starter. I don't think we are there yet. Somehow Simon Elliott made it to Fulham I know and if Findlay plays more with Forest, I think it'll be because he raised his level. But most American players starting in Europe are there because they were superior players in the US, not average. I think he'd get a loan or transfered to a Division 1 club...is that where he really wants to be? Maybe give Denmark a try or come back home in MLS...
Rogers would have no problem with a Champioonshop side. he has pace and skills. He just needs a chance.. He was unlucky when Warnock over. The man has an extremly direct, long ball approach which does not suit Robbie's skill set.
He was very close to starting before his head injury. Also at a certain time within Findley's time at Forest, he was actually doing very well & for a short while was considered one of their better strikers by forest fans. Its tougher for a good but not great MLS player to get on & start with a Championship side but I think there are several decent MLS players atm who could. He really deserved to have a good run with this side. Unfortunately it just seems they are not interested in waiting & seeing if Rogers can indeed cut it.
But tbf I find Rogers & Findley to be some of the most overrated players weve seen over the past decade. In terms of Americans that is..
I think the Champ is a good level for him. As others have pointed out, bad luck in the manager change. He's got his work permit, that is half the battle. Someone should take a chance on him. I'd like to see his pace in blackpools wide open attack.
I was just thinking he could be good a Brighton as well. They seem to have same style of play and a bit of money to spend.
Leeds have a pretty small squad as it is so its looks like Warnock has decided he isnt good enough even as a squad player and needs him moved on to get in someone who is.
Possibly, but nearly everyone finds the move to transfer list Robbie strange as Leeds have no cover on the wings and it's not like he's going command a big fee (if any at all.) I'm fairly convinced it's more to due with getting his wages off the books and signing a goal-scoring forward, where the squad is the weakest. Seems as much based on this interview with Warnock today: Rumors swirling that the fine person that is El Hadji Diouf is training with Leeds this week with a view to sign, he might be the reason that Robbie is going. (what a match made in heaven Diouf in a Leeds shirt would be ) fwiw, I'll be interested to see if Robbie ends up joining Simon Grayson at Huddersfield. On a side note, the fans are absolutely apoplectic about the takeover collapsing, calling for Ken Bates head even more then normal, pitch forks might be at the ready by the weekend.
Warnock does like to rack and stack his strikers, although if he signs Diouf after what he did, it would be a sign of how desperate the situation is there. Warnock has always had a reputation for working with 'his' players and ditching anyone he doesn't fancy. At QPR he publicly stated several times that players weren't in his plans and were better off going to another club and playing rather than rotting in the reserves and I expect that this is what's happening here. Rogers' wages surely wouldn't be high enough to chop in for a decent striker.
man, I'd think he'd have a hard time qualifying. He hasn't been receiving callups for a while and he was a close case back then. Hard to see how his play in England justifies him as special case.
Two players have been transfer listed today (Rogers and Pugh) and another 3-4 are on their way out. Put all those wages together and you can easily sign a striker. Its just sad (in light of this collapsed takeover) that Leeds need to get rid of 5 players to sign 1 or 2.
exactly- he has no track record in England despite having been there a year. I know he was injured a good bit, but he also didn't play a lot when available. the permit is because he is 'exceptional'. Normally that is made on basis of national team caps and increasingly Americans have been getting away with not really meeting the requirement. In a way, it would make a mockery of process if he gets renewed, although I hope he does.
WP's are submitted and ultimately sponsored by the employer and they are not "transferable" to a new employer, IIRC. With that said, though, it's very rare that a reapplication is denied. There have been some; I just can't think of any off the top of my head. Based on injuries sustained last season it would be a pretty harsh denial. If Warnock gave Robbie a chance, I don't think he'd disappoint. Warnock is pretty old school in his tactics and has a "my way or the highway" philosophy. No shame in that but sometimes it leaves good players on the outside, looking in. RR shouldn't have problems finding a club. He can play in the Championship and succeed.
He was eligible in mid January. His manager was fired about a week later. He had his consussion in mid January and broken ankle in April. He played in four closed door friendlies last season and scored two goals. He played in 5 preaseason games and scored 2 goals. His problem is at his position the manager wants a big very direct player who boots the ball up field and plays mainly with air balls. He is going to fit with a team that plays on the ground and touches the ball.
He is on the transfer list which is akin to purgatory. I imagine he will be sold or loaned out soon. Hell, he had a good preseason. 2 goals, one assist and reported fit. I imagine he just does not fit into NW's style. It will be Leed's loss ultimately. I have seen some video of NW's latest design and its really unsightly.
