So somebody locked every other thread discussing the upgrade. Awesome customer service there.

Could somebody answer the question I asked in one of the locked threads? Is the large amount of white space a design "feature" or just one of the many things that need to be fixed? Will you enable us to reduce the white space by changing the space above and below the line between posts? With sigs off, why is there so much white space below the date/rep/quote line? It is ridiculous that even one line posts fill up more than half of the vertical space on my screen. The pre-upgrade BigSoccer allowed me to see more posts on screen at once. If you are going to stick us with just 25 post per page could you at least not make us scroll nearly that many times per page?

It is intentional, part of the design, to create negative space and padding between posts. When there was less padding, there was much more complaining about not being able to tell where one post ends and one begins. Unfortunately, you seem to be in the minority on this.

The size of the user info container on the left exacerbates this and we are exploring options. Perhaps having it be collapsed by default and you can open it for details? If the user info block was smaller, then you wouldn't have all that wasted white space created as a result.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Would it be difficult to give us the option to shrink the white space/user info? Keep all the padding for default if that is actually popular but give us the choice on how to see the posts. I don't see how people wouldn't be able to see when a post ends since there is wide line there but I take your word on that. White space reduction option and fixed multipage multiquote and you won't see me in here again until the next upgrade. ;)

    EDIT: Yes! Perfect. Thanks.

Interesting. That definitely makes it cleaner, though I think I pay closer attention to the info than the avatar as I scan through threads.

Is the collapsed user info block going to be the default? I don't even know what side I'd lean towards, but I'd love to have an option to choose whether to have all collapsed or not, rather than do one by one if I prefer the other option.

    Only 29 items? :p

My other boss started telling me I need to be more productive. I'll try and have a more nit-picky list by the end of the week.

As an example of what I am talking about: The colors for the text on the drop down are all listed as html IDs and not names. Seems weird that I am typing in color 000000

Hmmm. I recognize that you're never going to satisfy everyone, but I don't like the change of having them all minimized. I do like seeing the open info container on every post. You've essentially made it so that I will never see anyone's info, because I'm certainly not going to go around clicking everyone's info box on every single post. Can there be a preference setting so that we can set it ourselves to have the default either collapsed or expanded?

Thanks again for all the hard work.

On colors, I think soccernutter means that when you scroll over the color panel, number tags pop up instead of the name of the color (scroll over black, and 000000 pops up instead of "black").

On the second item, I just expanded your and Sachsen's user info box, left this thread, came back in, and found the boxes to be collapsed again. Is there something I am doing wrong?

    A. Hooray for Liquid!
    B. Boo for useless background that takes up extra space when taking advantage of Liquid. I hope fixing that is part of "Style Enhancements" or adding the Left Nav.

Question: is the old team line-up function going to return? Or is it here already and I am just to dumb to figure it out?

You asked that here (and maybe elsewhere?) as one of the last posts of the thread. The thread is still open. And several of the issues you inquired about there have been addressed in the first post of this thread.

For you, there is? I tested it out and do not see much blank/negative space.

Agreed. On a one line or two line post w/o a quote, there is a large amount of wasted space. Everybody with some kind of avatar/psudo-avatar should allow us to differentiate between posts fairly easy.

Belgian guy see item 21 in the list.

Huss and Nutter thanks for item 21, definitely looking forward to the table tags. And a great big ol ginormous thanks for moving everything forward. The upgrade gets better every day.

any chance the rep's can be private? people dont need to know who handed out every single rep . On each message you see each person who has repped a post. Clogs up threads and adds a distraction .

Ends up looking like a poor mans facebook .

I also mentioned it here along with other issues. That was the thread that I noticed was closed. That is why I brought the issue up again here but left out the other ones already addressed. Huss took quick action so I'm now pretty happy with customer service. I would suggest that in the future when you close a bunch of threads that you include a post explaining why they were closed and pointing to the new thread where you want future posts on the topic to go. Isn't that still part of the guidelines for mods? It was when I used to mod the Arsenal and UEFA boards.
It looks like the issue didn't involve sigs at all and instead was caused by the giant user info box plus a design choice to have space around the dividing line between posts. I am quite happy with the change Huss made. I no longer need to scroll as many times since more posts appear on the screen at once. I personally would like the option to reduce the white space above and below the dividing line between posts but that is less of an issue now that the extra white space cause by the user info box is gone.
