They were all playing back in the first half... result: U de Chile 3 Dep. Quito 0 primer tiempo. Dep. Quito needs to be more offensive the second half. Let's see what happens. As of now U de Chile will classify, unless Dep Quito scores a gol.

was anybody really surprised that U de Chile would classify? Respect to D Quito for advancing out of the group stage, and to Emelec, too, but I knew that U de Chile was going to sweep that game up. Granted, 6-0 is a bit of a stretch and an embarrassment, but Quito never really as a consistent enough threat in this game to make even a goal fathomable. As of now, let's just enjoy watching the other teams...some good games and matchups are on the horizon.

yeah, only the D.Quito fans thought so lol they were already being ridiculous saying they were up to win the cup hahahaha omg futbolecuador.com made me laugh so hard the other day. No way in hell were they getting through, if they did it was going to be the biggest miracle. U de Chile is on something else. A notch above every other team in South America. So far I see Santos, Boca, Corinthians, and U de Chile as the strongest teams. Theres going to be some nice quarter finals this year. Wow!

Why? PLEASE!! What I think is even more funny is that some people actually think some of those Dep Quito players are getting transferred to Europe! LOL, If noone in Europe was suckered into buying Bieler and Bolanos after winning the Copa Lib. Imagine Dep Quito.

this is what happens when the whole team is defending to preserve the goal advantage.are you kidding me!freaking cover the midfield and dont let them set up their game.the first 3 goals were so coxudo i just had to laugh,it looked like bloopers of what no to do.poor play all around, all passes were telegraphed, emailed and took so long that the U players managed to steal the ball.so frustrating to go out like this, because it gives altura conspiracy theorists ammunition to talk smack.I have to wait for my Barce to show them how its done in Libertadores..:p

Come on Man, So you are saying altura has nothing to do with it? Have you ever been to Quito?
    So let see:

    Atahualpa - 45K Spectators
El Monumental - 90+K Spectators plus all those Suites.

Not even the Most greediest Monster transformation of Chiriboga is stupid enough to play qualifiers in Guayaquil like they did pre-1998. I was in Guayaquil to watch Ecuador _ Brasil when Ecuador got ********ed by a non call Penalty on Aguinaga.

I wonder if it has the reverse effects for our players who play in Quito when they play at sea level. I remember getting headaches when I'd travel from Quito down to Guayaquil. ha. But how much of an advantage is it really to play in Quito ? They say it takes about 1 week to get acclimated.

1 week my ass! I stayed in Ibarra for a month years ago and never got used to it. You always take that extra breath. Instead of people stating that the Altura has no effect which is bullshit, they should say Venezuela, Colombia etc.. have extreme heat and humidity which is worst IMO. Every country in South America has its advantages. People make it that much worst when they deny the natural advantages they have. In all honesty, Both Ischia and Fleitas completely ********ed the away games. If you look at the way Dep Quito played so defensive was ridiculous. That team is not built that way. That's the first time I've seen them play like that. Ischia ********ed up big time.

I for one welcome the diversity of S.America. I don't mind our clubs playing in altitude or extreme heat. We got beat good in the first leg, but altitude had little to do with it. If I wanted to use an excuse it would be that our players got tired from the classico against Colo-Colo a few days before that match were we won 5-0. For the second leg, we rested ALL starters and used a reserve squad against Universidad de Concepcion (and lost 2-0!). It also helped that Deportivo Quito came and parked the bus.

Did you guys watch the Santos - Bolívar game? That may make the case for altitude differences or something... it was like men against boys!! Of course that was extreme changes. Either way I think it will be an all Brazilian final.

one week?? lol your insane. That's like telling a fat or unathletic kid to run an easy 2 miles non stop- They wont make it and feel like they cant breathe after the first 2 laps. It takes (on average) around 2 months or so for footballers to be 100% acclimated in Quito or any of those cities of high altitude we have. But i hate to hear the excuses when other teams say "so and so won b/c of altura". Altura is one of many factors. It's not the ONLY factor that makes a difference. Look at U de Chile last year. They beat us and we are no half ass D.Quito. But somehow D.Quito beat them 4-1 in a Libertadores game. Now someone tell me that altura is the only reason U de Chile lost?? not even in D.Quito's case it is. D.Quito lost b/c they're Chiquitas and that defensive bs that they were trying to pull off failed.

At least emelec didnt play like little girls hiding on their side of the field.

    D. Quito's dirigencia sacked Ischia. Sad really. Right after that terrible loss. The players morale must be in the gutter...they were clearly buying into the system since last year. As management, I see that point of view, too. Nobody wants your employee to publicly bash the ones that pay the bills and give you the opportunity, but at the same time, the truth should get out about how teams STILL aren't financially solvent enough to consistently provide on the promises and obligations they make/have.

I wish Ischia the best though. He really is a great coach. As for D.Quito...we'll see what happens next.

they're dumbasses. They'll probably never see a round of 16 again now lol ungreatful dirigencia. Not even Barcelona would make such a stupid move. Speaking of which, Ischia would be a perfect fit for them b/c theres much better material to work with. Unfortunately for Barcelona, they already have a coach.
