Good idea, although I would make 2 changes: get rid of the 2nd-grade-art-project ball and loose the stars, the US has not won any world cups yet to earn the honor of displaying them in their crest, instead I would put a bald eagle in the blue field.
World Cup stars go above the crest itself, so I've never understood the reasoning behind what you're saying.
And of course, there are other non-Cup winning teams with stars in their crests. So what exactly was your point?
Of all the US Soccer logos I have seen here, this one is still my favorite: Maybe "USA" at the top, instead of United States of America and stars, and maybe the blue diamond with 1913 could be removed, but those are minor changes... I definitely thing USSF needs to make some deal with Nike where they get the rights to the snake coiled around the ball....
As much as I dislike our crest period, just removing the shadows on the stars and reversing the blue and red does improve it quite a bit. I honestly won't be happy until that ball-like-a-shooting-star bit is gone, though. That's always the biggest thing that bugged me about it.
We could just go with this one, a modernized version of the 1950 crest: Taken from here: http://godcountrysoccer.blogspot.com/2010/09/usa-soccers-logo.html
The current logo reminds me of the one i had when my soccer teams name was "the super-shots" so i feel its too childish and cartoonish.
No snake ... mexico's crest has an eagle EATING a snake (like GOPv DNC .. Elephant eating a donkey.... no bueno). Reverse colors is good. No Flying Ball.
Yeah that one's real good since there are so many Americans that are Arsenal fans and that is a blatant rip off of the Arsenal logo. Also if we're making a brand new logo we shouldn't keep the ninja stars and no thanks to having the Nike logo IN our federation's logo. I don't care if an eagle is cliche, it's American. I am also okay with tweaking our current design. My updates would be fixing the colors, making the stars normal (but no need to remove them, yeah we haven't won anything but our flag has stars so it's acceptable) not having the 'US' be slanted, and maybe keeping the soccer ball but having it look stationary, not flying. This would make it so the chances aren't massive, but the logo is modernized
I would make two simple modifications. Remove the stars from the top of the logo (why 3?) and change the striping to 13 stripes (red and white total). That would be perfect. A step in the right direction for sure.
I know this thread is old, but i think these new kits are lovely and are making a strong case for permanent crest. This one would work as well, maybe a hybrid too.
