Although most guys wouldn't specifically call out the person they think that they are better than...

For sure I think Woolard has a right to be annoyed

He also had a tendency to lose his mark late in games.

I think they finally found Burch's most useful position when they switched him from left back to left coast.

Or 'Left Behind', the double meaning is appropriate.

    Hitting the crossbar is wide?

We're lucky he didn't steal all 3 points with that diving header.

    No, he was not.

Also, it would have been hilarious if Burch had won that game by a) starting the attack with a long diagonal ball and then b) burying the game winner.

Even a dead clock is right twice a day...Or once, if you're one of those 24-hour socialist whackjob metric jobbies. So he's got a worse record than even that. Maybe he's the kind of clock that flashes 12:00 all the time, only when it's actually 12:00, he loses power.

No team should give up a goal (or such a good opportunity) in extra time at home against a team that's had to travel so far.

I'm certainly glad he didn't score, but ESPECIALLY given his speed -- which we all know after years of his playing here to be positively geologic -- the idea that he'd start the play from the back and score with a header says that we're still not sharp enough at the end of games.

Can you imagine what it would have felt like -- and how many less walk-up sales there would have been -- if the team had posted another stoppage time loss?

We were damn lucky, but we shouldn't be depending on luck to finish strong at home.

How many times did this happen last year? And it's already happened once this year.

Yea I think my heart stopped when I saw Burch fly in with that header. I looked at my friend next to me and had to ask if that just happened

I had already commented on the nice pass that started the play*, then continued to comment at a louder and louder volume that NO ONE WAS COVERING HIM! I almost had a coronary when the ball ended up bouncing right to him.
Thankfully, his finishing still screams "Hi, I'm Marc Burch" :D:D

    * I'll watch the replay on the DVR sometime this week to see where Kitchen was, but that pass had no business getting through midfield.

Giving up that chance isn't the problem necessarily, although the timing of it was obviously concerning. The defense was tight all game and limited Seattle. Even in the best of games you will give up some chances And that certainly wasn't due to lazy defense, it was kind of a fluke rebound off the keeper. Shit happens.

The real problem is lack of possession, cohesion and ability in the final 3rd. So far the Dallas game is the anomally. The trend for us so far is poor midfield possession and generally speaking very ugly soccer. We've had 1 goal in the other 4 games, and you can count the chances we've created in those on one hand. That's not a recipe for success. If we keep playing like that we may have to get used to more heart breaking 1-0 losses.

    http://www.thenewstribune.com/2012/04/10/2101814/he-just-missed-a-header-and-it.html

What does his quote even mean?
“… I could have scored it. It was just something that popped up a little quicker than I expected. It happens. We could have stolen three points. But the tie is good enough.”

“(D.C. midfielder Chris) Pontius said he didn’t think he would have ever played again if I would have scored because I was his man,” Burch said. “They all know I can still play. They would have been so happy for me in a couple of weeks if I would have scored. On that night they wouldn’t have been, but those are my friends.”

Is he implying that Pontius would have been happy Burch got the winning goal a few weeks from now? If so, he gets dumber with each quote...

So, a guy that a segment of the fanbase disliked, but most were indifferent to, was released, signed by a team not in DC's division that DC will probably play once this year made some comments saying that DC shouldn't have released him (because we expected him to say, "Yeah, I was shit for the past three years and even the DC ball boys will outclass me when we play this week") and he intends to prove it. He barely gets any playing time, almost punishes DC, but misses. He then goes on to have the temerity to suggest that guys he counts as his friends would have gotten over the fact that he scored on them and be happy for his success.
    What an asshole.
I know it's the Internet and all, but why are we still talking about this?
