Well for being the country with the 2 best clubs and a national team that won the euro and wc Spanish Football media is totally disorganized. i can understand that Copa Del Rey and SuperCopa have different distributors but for the same competition to have a distributor for the round of 32 to semi's and another just for the final is chaotic. It makes it so hard for fans to actually find let alone have the channels that these different distributors sell to.

Al Jazeera has hired MEDIAPRO to produce Be In Sport 1 and 2 in France:

    http://www.ameinfo.com/294345.html

    --

    This is NOT a surprise.

An industry insider told me his odds for the following as of last weekend:

90% - Al Jazeera will hire MEDIAPRO to operate the Spanish-language sports channel in the U.S. Hispanic market. MEDIAPRO has a Florida-based subsidiary with a digital video production and transmission facility already in place for temporary use

    http://imaginaus.com

10% - Al Jazeera will buy a controlling stake in GOLTV, Inc.

    --

For the same $100 million or so in startup cost to build a new Spanish-language sports TV network in the U.S. from scratch, Al Jazeera could have bought a 50.1% controlling stake in GOLTV, Inc. complete with distribution agreements with every major pay TV operator in the U.S. except DISH for a reach of 13 million households, plus an advertising sales force, a veteran production staff, and access to a production/transmission facility (rented from France Telecom's Globecast USA) that was upgraded to digital HD video production and transmission only 2 years ago.

You should now be convinced that MEDIAPRO (and its Florida-based subsidiaries which provided advice to GOLTV, Inc. 10 years ago) is looking out only for MEDIAPRO and no one else.

Well I just posted this question in the other thread but I wonder how mediapro and goltv's relationship is now.

Can that business relationship really get any worse at this point?

I almost 99.9999% predict that Al Jazzera will partner up with GolTV..

Question? I though MediaPro was in partnership with Goltv US and Goltv Latam. I believe Goltv Canada is 90% by a local cable operator. So if this is the case, why not buy Goltv and have mediapro run their production.

This is going to be an interesting summer.

MEDIAPRO advised Francisco Casal, Enzo Francescoli, et. al. during GOLTV's startup phase in the U.S. 10 years ago.

GOLTV, Inc. had purchased a lot of media rights from MEDIAPRO over the years.

My industry source was spot on: MEDIAPRO only looks out for MEDIAPRO and would not hesitate to put its own interest ahead of its clients.

Also when Goltv does get removed from English sports packages then they would have no need for Phil Schoen or Ray Hudson to do English commentary because the channel will only be on a Spanish package.

So here is my question.............why did MEDIAPRO started a channel in spain also name Gol tv. MEDIAPRO does have an operation in Miami, and some how MediaPro may be that link between Goltv and Al Jazeera. Otherwise, Goltv is bye bye.

So sad for Goltv, they did bring the Beautiful game to a new level in North America.

MEDIAPRO's futbol channel in Spain is GOL Television, abbreviated GolT.

GolT is NOT the same as GOLTV.

I know this is a La Liga thread, but I'm concerned about Serie A rights. As of now, I can watch 5 or more Serie A matches a week with ESPN3. Does this mean this will stop at the end of the season? I can't afford cable or a dish. I can only afford internet. Am I going to be relegated to watching pirated streams just to watch Serie A next season? I'll pay over $100 to watch something like FoxSoccer.tv if Al Jazeera offers it, so long as it has the Serie A matches next season.

that's the big unknown with Al J/BeIn. Do they even have a broadband strategy in the UK or France?

I expect "beIN Deportes", where La Liga will probably end up starting in August, to be in the Spanish-language packages alongside MEDIAPRO's other channels such as CentroAmerica TV, Pasiones, Television Dominicana and TVE Int'l. "beIN Deportes" will originate from Imagina U.S. in Miami on a temporary basis until a new facility is built.

"beIN Sport International" (in French), where Ligue 1 is headed, will likely be a-la-carte premium (i.e. $15-20/month) and should launch by the end of July. "beIN Sport International" will originate from the studios of beIN Sport in Paris.

Don't know yet where Al Jazeera will also launch "beIN Sports USA" in order to air the 2:45pm ET Serie A matches live starting in August. We will know for certain once the English Premier League sells its U.S. media rights for 2013-2016 in August. Al Jazeera will take on the incumbent FOX Sports Media Group-ESPN, Inc. partnership. There is a strong possibility that FOX will recruit Univision Deportes to form a 3-way alliance to fend off Al Jazeera.

(I expect "beIN Sports USA" to originate from London.)

I hope that the new Al Jazeera Sports Channel will be available to different providers and not being an exclusive to Dish or Directv or Comcast, etc....
The smart thing to do will be make it available to many providers.......more avalability, more money.....but who knows....

When goltv gets removed on the sports pack does it also lose it's high definition channel on Directv?

I'm sure they want to be on as many providers as possible. No one seems to know what their financial plans are, but if they're not planning to make a profit on this channel they probably won't negotiate very hard on price. It will mostly be a question of whether providers want to do business with them and if they will make the bandwidth available.

Just to be clear, no one on here actually knows what is going to happen between the end of this season and start of next season. Speculation makes for good reading, but nothing is hard truth.

The only place where the information of La Liga and Calcio going over to Al Jazeera Sports cam from EPL Talk, but there is no official announcement about that, and the rest is speculation from this news

It's sad to see the one truly great soccer station GolTV slowly going down the path of extinction being pushed out by deeper pocketed Johnny-come -lately's that are now capitalizing on the great interest/audience GolTV helped build! What are the chances of GolTV signing on with MLS? Wouldn't that actually be a step up for GolTV?

Where were Al Jazzera 10 years ago, when no one, not even paid satellite/cable, carried non-EPL soccer? To barge in now is a bit ridiculous. I can understand Univision Deportes getting into the market now, since it will likely put big games on free terrestrial channels, expanding the reach of soccer. But to have, essentially, one satellite channel replace another (or 2) is ridiculous.

GolTV has done little to promote La Liga. It's a bare-bones operation.

Prior of Goltv comming to the miss, La liga was either re-plays(Fox) or was never shown. Goltv change that, but their pockets were now dip enought to showcase La liga like Fox did with the EPL. But Goltv did change the television football landscape in the United States.
