    Conundrum:
One of my favorite songs performed beautifully by two utter jerks -- The Walker Brothers' "Make it easy on yourself" sung by asshole cowboy and Diva lurch.

That pissed me off so much that that was good. I was ready to see Cowboy go home. He was horrible in group. Those judges love some ********ing cowboys. I expect he'll never have to go outside of his box either.

easily one of the best pop trio ballads of 60s. i always thought the Walker Bros. were from the UK but no.

cowboy dipwort deserves to be sent back to his "spread" in Centennial CO.

lack of empathy is a sign of stunted emotional development. may you never be in a situation where you feel so adrift that you feel like you need to call your mother.

I felt nothing for someone who has people bending over backwards for him to be best prepared for a potentially life changing audition although he claims he didn't know the rules. The guy simply couldn't focus and frankly that's not somebody I would want to work with.

    two different menu items.

maybe he's not workable. but it was a bit reality TV dramatic that they told him he couldn't sing a capella 30 minutes before he was supposed to go on.

the idea that he needs to man up and grow some has nothing to do with whether he's somebody that can work with a music producer.

why do you think that AI waited till 30 minutes prior to his performance to tell him...?

That was reality television drama. His song was likely approved, but the contestants have limited time practicing with vocal coaches and bands. I don't put much into it.

do you understand that he initially thought he would be able to sing a capella and later was told that the "policy" ( in Vegas ) was that contestants must play with the band? the producers told him that 30 minutes before his performance.

you would think AI would be better organized than that.

i have to think that all the contestants were given or told the rules in advance. I am sure they do so after every round. Maybe he was just not paying attention?

maybe he wasn't but that still begs the question why AI didn't tell him he would have to use the band until 30 minutes before the performance.

    maybe they weren't paying attention.

my point isn't that he isn't ultimately responsible for knowing the rules and the consequences, but you have to wonder why AI wasn't more on top of the situation.

Personally, I really like that kid Reed (the one that called his mother).

    He's very talented.

Just to be clear -- that guy was a complete and total dick and while I don't wish him ill, I do not wish him well.

But, as I said earlier, his duet on that Walker Brothers classic was just great. And it was a huge stretch for him.

But it's telling that it took him and his partner a good long while to get to the actual melody -- because it's a very subtle, intricate and gorgeous melody. And they couldn't even work out any harmonies -- they basically sang it straight across in tandem, I'm guessing because they were expending all their mental energies on staying with the song.

And then what does he choose for his big final sing-off? Ring of Fire.

    What. A. Moron.

Nobody (NOBODY! Hear me?!) loves Johnny Cash more than I do. But that is simply a nursery rhyme melody with huge gaps in the vocal line and does nothing to show off a singer other than how low can ya go.

This was essentially the cowboy version of "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong" -- and I couldn't have been more pleased.

PS: If the DVR wasn't created specifically for this show, it should have been. Took me about 10 minutes to see the actual new vocals and I could just speed through the tears and the joy and the crappy fake-out torture.

Would have been funny if when they went back home for the final three, the police were there and handcuffed him.
