on playstation... they're going to cross paths, you watch.

but it's true the two clubs have different enough DNA to make a derby between them very interesting.

Hmmm. They were just in the National last year and only one year in Ligue 2 before promotion. I'm not sure what that says about them or Ligue 2 in general.

I'd say there is a massive amount of positive momentum in the club, they sell out every home game. The expansion and renovation of Stade Armand Cesari is finally under way and the team have a good balance of experienced veterans like Maoulida and Rothen and young promising talents like Diallo & Khazri. I might be overly optimistic but I think the club has the structure to really establish themselves in Ligue 1, a much bigger fan base on Corsica and on the mainland than Ajaccio. And the city seems to have rallied behind the team in way it hasn't in many years.

Anyways. after last nights results the standing are

    1. Bastia 55pts
    2. Clermont 45pts
    3. Reims 43pts
    4. Troyes 43pts
    5. Nantes 41pts
    6. Sedan 41pts
    7. Châteauroux 41pts

In terms of Ligue 1 potential it would be nice if Nantes could stop drawing at home and get some wins but that doesn't seem likely to happen. Big game tonight in Reims vs Le Mans. If Reims win they get some important breathing room in the promotion battle and Le Mans must win to overtake Monaco in the relegation battle.

i gotta root for stade reims. primo, they have a special history and it would be good to see them back in the elite after so long. secundo, they have a nice new stadium. in fine, that's where guignol jr. plans on going next year.

Ligue 2 has to have the most talent of any 2nd division in Europe. I dont follow it closely at all but it seems theres some great hidden players over there.

    Top 5.

    Bastia 59pts
    Reims 50pts
    Clermont 48pts
    Troyes 46pts
    Sedan 45pts

Important win for Bastia at home against Laval, and hey Tours only four points behind Clermont now.

Monaco is surging up the table. 8 games in a row without a defeat and 20 pts. out of a possible 24. Promotion is a long shot because of their terrible start but lets say they finish 4th and one of the top 3 teams mysteriously fails to pass the DNCG and is denied promotion. Its not likely but hey its all I can hope for.

Monaco won again. It's fairly impressive. It would be insane, if they were promoted in L1, after spending most of the season into the relegation battle. I've watched a couple of games of Monaco after Dmitry Rybolovlev took over the club out of curiosity with the 10 signings during the winter transfer window. I'm fairly surprised by their results, they seemed often "outplayed" by their opponents, perhaps they improved since then. I'm even more surprised by Touré who keeps scoring goals because he seemed rather weak technically even for L2 standards.

It'd be a good thing to see Monaco, Lens and Nantes back in L1.

    helluva name that.

sure! but just think; when AJA goes there will be FOUR clubs in L2 who have been champion in the last 20 years!

I really dont care if AJA goes. They arent big enough for L1 anymore if you think about. They won based on their youth players and thats dried up now.

Bastia wins 2-1 and more or less secures promotion to Ligue 1.

15 point lead with 5 games left.

I wish Monaco, Lens and Nantes were in L1 BUT I admit I probably wouldnt pay as much attention to L2 if they werent there and part of the fun is checking the standings all the time to see if they are close or not close to getting back there. Having former champions in L2 does make it more interesting to follow.
