    since it was locked.

Word is that Podolski just took a medical in London per Honigstein's twitter

@honigstein: Podolski passed a medical for Arsenal today, according to well-informed Dave Woods of the Daily Star. #afc”

Why would you do a medical before the end of the season?

If there is a deal in place, with the clubs and the player all in agreement, the medical is the next step to finalize the trade.

I suppose - but he's still owned by another team and playing for another team through the end of the season. I'm sure the lawyers take care of all that though in case of injury. Just seems odd.

FWIW Shaqiri did the same with his impending Bayern deal

Off topic but how relieved must have Shaqiri have been after playing Bayern today and knowing he would be on the other side of the 7 nil loss next year.

Anyway, if Podoski truly had his medical I expect every newspaper to start saying so by tomorrow or so.

If you want a player badly then it makes sense. Why give another desperate team to wave money in front of his face? Seal the deal now.

Anod now Wenger especially knows how important it is to get the transfer nonsense done earlier on to focus on just training and preseason.

if a deal is agreed to between the teams and player, why would this be odd?

Arsenal bought his registration for July 1, 2012 and onward.

I'm first to admit I don't understand it all. But what if he gets injured now? It seems to me the typical scenario would be to agree to a fee, pending a physical at the end of his registration with his current club.

    Just seems odd to me...

All reports indicate that the medical took place in Germany which would make even more sense considering Pod still has duties to carry out with Koln

The less Nicky B the better. No news unfortunately about Denilson or Vela but it looks like the Arsenal Garage sale is on...

    http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_1_13967_chamakh-and-park-to-play-for-arsenal-reserves.html

On this on it says that Chamakh and Park will be featured in this reserve fixture to intice other teams. Chamakh is a walking ATM and we paid only a couple million for Park. Not only can we get rid of them but make money in the process too. Looks like Arsene is starting early to get rid of the driftwood and might even make a profit.

    It's called a risk.

We buy Podolski now and not worry about the price going up in the summer.

Yeah we gotta do it. His price could easily double not to mention way more teams will be looking if he has a good Euro.

So, with all the big moneyed printing press teams (ManUre, Shiteh, Chavski FC, that other Russian team) putting a full court press on Hazard, this means we go hunting in the bargain basement, looking for blue light specials?

I'm sure the medical is just make sure he has no possible career stopper issues. I'm sure there is a clause in any sort of agreement or completed deal where there are stipulations that if he gets a major injury of the remainder of the season the deal requires a new medical etc.

Could it? He is not exactly an unknown commodity, especially at the international level. I am still all for tying him up now, but would not expect a giant rise in his fee due to the Euros.

You never know, really. I think Germany has a good chance of winning the Euros and when a team wins, or are in the last 4 at least normally players on those teams are gone in no time.

I see what you are saying, just find it hard to believe a player who is already known to show better at the international level would have a great tournament with his national team and then have his price rise at the club level when the question has always been over his club form. Doesn't matter, just hope he signs.

I still cannot get over the fact that he considers himself as good as Bergkamp. If only he had shut his mouth, put his head down and worked hard. I rate him higher than Chamakh and Park but will shed no tears. Can we get 5-6 million for him?

Re: Upcoming Hazerd Deal Carefully - The Transfer Thread

Agreed alot of people are familiar with him. I think that if the financially doped teams see Germany do well along with him, they will get a world class player at the prime of his career for a bargain. All the while playing against world class competition and all eyes watching. And it seems like the crazy spending will start to be a bit slower than in the past. With all of those things I could see it happening. If Hazard and Gotze price goes above €30 million, Poldolski value will stick out like a sore thumb.

Just hoping something similar will happen with Nicky B. I don't think that a major price rise will happen with Arshavin as he is older.
