This is the formatino I want to see:
    --------------Pajoy-----------------
    --------------------Martinez--------

    Daniel---------Gomez---------Torres

    ----------------Carroll---------------

    Lopez-----Valdes-------Califf--Williams

Adu is out because of the Olympic squad so I think Torres is more adabtable at the wing. I will give Lopez another chance but sub him soon as possible if he is playing poorly. Would like to see a 4-1-3-2 with Martinez slightly on the wing supporting Pajoy.

Garfan needs to be waiting to go into this game if Lopez sucks it up like he did last night.

Garfan should start this game. Lopez needs to ride the pine after 90 minutes of suck yesterday. That was the worst I think I've ever seen anyone in a Union uniform play. Even Seitz didn't suck that hard.

The cRapids gave us our only regular season home loss last year. I wouldn't be surprised if we are looking at a repeat performance on Sunday.

How soon we forget the echoes of names such as Myrie, Thomas, and Stahl.

Agreed... however give Lopez one or two more games.... First game vs a real team yesterday....

I do not believe he was on board yet for Orlando City yet, correct me please if I am wrong... and if so, that still is not an MLS Team. We were playing subpar competition in Costa Rica. While almost everyother team played MLS Squads.
I thought he played like shiz yesterday, but I give him one or two more games.... If we take another L Sunday, Its gonna get really ugly up in PPL Park. Im not hopping on the "Sack Nowak" crew, but I am hopping on the "Im pissed as F*** and want 3 PT results" crew

Here's the lineup I'd use, since Freddy will be out on international duty.

    [LINEUP-4-5-1]Pajoy, Daniel, Marfan, Gomez(v), Torres(^), Okugo(v), Garfan, Valdes, Califf, Williams, MacMath[/LINEUP-4-5-1]

Pajoy can play as a lone striker. Mwanga replaces Pajoy if/when Pajoy runs out of steam. Torres pulls the strings as a CAM. Replace Marfan with Martinez if he sucks and/or runs out of steam. Pull Okugo and replace him with JackMac and use a diamond 4-4-2 if we go down late.

I'm really struggling to comprehend why so many Union fans are OBSESSED with a single striker formation? A single striker is good WHEN and ONLY when you have wide players who can effectively get crosses into the box and when you have attacking midfield players who can play behind them in the slot. I honestly do not see either of these as a strength with this team......anyone else share this view

I don't think anybody is resolute with a single striker formation. I was more than sure we would go into Portland with two strikers. I think the only reason we had one striker last night was Nowak wanted to play a more defensive/counter attack game against Portland. I wouldn't be surprised if Nowak fielded a more offensive formation (4-2-2-2 or even a 4-4-2) with two strikers now that we are open and the weather will most likely be better.

I hope so Brother....I know 4-4-2 isn't the "sexy" formation these days but last night and the way Nowack constantly tinkered with formations last year was so frustrating and puts players in bad situations. I hope I'm wrong, but none of our 'strikers' seem to be fast enough, or strong enough, or smart enough to really hold off an opponent's CBs and put a shot on goal. Playing two forwards at least forces the defenders to make a decision and gives you options.

I believe in Keon and Marfan on the wings, and hopefully J-Mart just had a poor game in PDX. No Adu is addition by subtraction for me. Maybe we'll see a more open game on Sunday. Can't wait for round two to wash away the bitter First Kick aftertaste.

So what would you do then? A 4-4-2 leaves a lot of space between the defenders, midfielders, and forwards, and we already have problems with possession.

I beg to differ.....a 4-4-2 provides the greatest depth, best coverage against holes and is overall the most balanced formation so long as you have smart players in the middle who can shift to cover those that go up to support the forwards. It provides the quickest transition on lost possession as well.

Because our midfielder pool is much deeper?

And really, we're still using lineups without Carroll (not you, but the previous post)? He's probably the best player on the team right now.

We have at least 10 midfield players on the roster, eight of which are (or should be) capable of starting

    Adu - Carroll - GOmez - Daniel - Okugo - M.Farfan - G. Farfan - Torres

We've zero depth on defence, so 4-4-2 would (to me) be the logical formation to stick at and play

Believe Okugo is out with the U-23s as well.

He is, and I would still find it unlikely that he would start over Carroll. Hope they go with a Diamond mid as long as Torres is ready to go.

I've heard it stated, and I'm inclined to agree, that we probably don't have our best eleven out there without both Carroll and Gomez.

I can see this going two ways.

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Mwanga, Pajoy, Daniel, Gomez, Carroll, M. Farfan, Lopez, Califf, Valdes, Williams, MacMath[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

    Or....

[LINEUP-4-5-1]Pajoy, Daniel, M. Farfan, Gomez (v), Torres (^), Carroll (v), Lopez, Califf, Valdes, Williams, MacMath[/LINEUP-4-5-1]

I don't think Nowak is going to dump Lopez after one game.

EDIT: oh yeah, I forgot Torres has that ankle (?) injury. Hopefully he's ready to go by Sunday.

    Piotr,

    --------------Pajoy------------------
    --------------------Mwanga---------

    Daniel---------Torres---------M. Farfan

    --------------Gomez-----------------

    G. Farfan-----Valdes----Califf--Williams

Make it happen. Get a lead into the 65th minute, and sub out Torres for Carroll and bucket it to the end of (added) time.

I don't think Torres will be ready to go, and I envision something crazy like this.

It would be interesting to see a Diamond 4-4-2 with something like this:

    [LINEUP-4-4-2]Mwanga,Pajoy,Daniel,^Adu/Torres,\/Carroll/Gomez,M.Farfan,Lopez/G. Farfan,Califf,Valdes,Williams,MacMath[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

After last night's disaster, I think the Union would be best playing a 4-1-4-1. We lost in the middle of the field last night and I think we need Carroll and Gomez to have more defined roles. I would rather play with 2 strikers, but I think we need Gomez and Carroll on the field at the same time.

    -------Pajoy-------

    Daniel----Gomez-----Mwanga-----Marfan

    -------Carroll------

    Garfan-----Valdes-----Califf------Williams

    -------MacMath------
