Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Stadium Groundbreaking "12-24 months" Part V. Over two thousand posts and still going strong!

Something about sticking with a task to it's conclusion.

Why? We can avoid 28 separate newbie threads on the subject, keep track of other teams making progress on this front, and track the final days, hours and minutes till the Big Announcement, or the drop dead silence when it passes.

    Tic toc.

Fan: When will the stadium announcement occur?
    KIASBM: 12-24 months.
    Fan: Define month.
KIASBM: Did I say month? I meant 12-24 quarters.
Fan: Ok, that sounds much more realistic.

"We had deeds to land all signed, and the construction contracts all filled out and passed through local legislation. Unfortunately we have not seen any workers or trucks show up to the site on the proposed ground breaking day. We are trying to get in contact with the construction company and hope to resolve any issues they have and bring them in before the start of next season when we hope to play in the new stadium"

The New England Revolution can't seem to find a community to partner with on development of a soccer-specific stadium, but a proposed independent minor-league baseball team has been given the go-ahead by the Malden Redevelopment Authority to begin negotiating with property owners in order to acquire the land necessary to build a $50 million ballpark on an 8-acre parcel in the city's downtown. Plans call for a 6,372-seat park with 16 skyboxes, a pro shop, a year-round restaurant, and a 30,000 square foot public plaza opening onto Commercial Street.

Hey! Maybe Malden's minor-league baseball team will let the Revolution lease their facility the way that the Kansas City T-Bones used to let the Wizards use CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Well if the baseball park seats around 7k logic says it's too small a land plot for a soccer stadium that ideally seats between 18 -25k. Therefore, the announcement of a stadium 1/3 the size of ours in a different sport is not really relevant to this discussion.

Good for Malden, it's a HUGE baseball town so this doesn't really shock me.

Also, knowing Kraft, the reason why they can't find a partner, is because they want the public to finance the project.

Kraft was quoted in the Globe in 2010's infamous measure 9x, cut once post-World Cup hoopla article as saying "financing is not an issue" (not that you/we believe a word out of his mouth of course)

Not sure how much room a stadium needs but why don't they at least look into some of these proposed casino sites for a potential stadium. Couldn't hurt to see since these people might want something done on the land if they don't win the casino bid.

Because having a stadium in Marlboro is no better than a stadium in Foxborough?

The only viable linkage I see here is the decoupling of Wonderland from Suffolk Downs, should they be awarded a casino project. Or someone please correct me if I'm wrong, have the two sites already been decoupled?

The sites are two different pieces of property, owned by the same organization (since Suffolk Downs knows that The Speaker is bringing a casino to the Blue Line come hell or high water)
