What does affiliate mean in practice? Baltimore were an affiliate of Crystal Palace; Pittsburgh are or were affiliated in some way to Everton. Not much came of either.
Sorry if I was a bit snarky in the last post. Based on the reputation of the Lions you'd expect something very different to those two - proper scouting of US-based talent at the least - but some details would be nice.
Obviously I don't know details, but I know that the relationship is with the entire Glavin Academy- not just the Lions PDL side. So that seems promising as far as what this could mean for youth soccer and development. Hopefully we'll get some more info soon.
and don't forget to follow The Floodplain Footy for Lions news, Piasa news, St. Louligan news and all things St.Louis soccer related. www.fpfooty.com
There is usually a Lions thread in the USL section. But if you get enough people you can request a team sub forum for them.
outside of BigSoccer? Not really a forum, but the St.Louligans have a Facebook page and they use that to talk about all things Lions, Piasa, etc.
Somewhere in this integration of the new forums the Lions Thread has been deleted. I have a request in for them to restore the thread and the content. The thread is under the USL Forum.
a new story today: NASL wants team in St.Louis by 2014! http://www.soccermadeinstlouis.com/.../15_NASL_wants_team_in_St._Louis_by_2014.html The first blocks of fan support are being laid. Two gsrassroots groups of soccer boosters, the St. Louis Soccer Alliance and the St. Louligans, have partnered to collect signatures to petition a pro soccer league … any pro league … to put a team in St. Louis. The SLSA was formed earlier this year, while the Louligans have been a vocal and growing fan organization that backed AC St. Louis and now supports the Lions.
