It's not so surprising if you think that messi plays in (probably) the best team in the History. Never a team has won 6 Titles of 6 possible. This team has broken almost all the records in football. FC Barcelona used a style of game, like Pep Guardiola Says: "I have the ball, I pass the ball". It seems easy, but with this style of game, FC Barcelona it's able to Smash All Rivals. If you have this spectacular team, and Lionel Messi is the Insignia, it's not so surprising his three Golden Balls.
pele far better..he has showed his talent in several teams..but messi only performs with barca.. http://gossipexpress.com/
What are we even discussing? Messi was invisible on Wednesday and added almost nothing to the team and Real Madrid was still beaten to a pulp! Given how poorly Argentina has been doing lately with Messi it seems to be more about Barca and less about Messi being so good.
pele had an effect on the team something zidane also had or maradona. zidane may not have been flashy infact i consider him the less flashiest when you compare him to other player like pele or even french platini. but zidane knew how to carry a team motivate through inspiration direct. he used what he had to his advantage stats and awards arent the only measurements in football. factor in the ability to read the game, control the game, inspire players, the ability to adapt to a new environment (that is leagues or different players who you player against or with). character( by that i mean how a player recovers from injuries, losses failures, defeats) <- some players experience this and never are the same
Completely agree with this...Messi needs to lift Argentina into greatness to be considered in the top ten of all time. Anything short of that will not suffice.
Just provided the match-winner assist, not to shabby for having less impact than all the other 13 games against Madrid.
This argument is been used to death. Even if Messi brings his "A" game to the field in every game for Argentina, they'll never win anything if the other players in the team keep playing the way they play actually. Pele always had other great players in his team that played to their potentials when it was expected of them. Zidane had other excellent players in the team that played their role when it was required, and we can go on with the examples. Do you often watch the argentine team play??? if yes, do you recognize the Aguero, Di Maria, Tevez, etc.. you see when watching them play for their clubs??? The fact that Messi's constantly the best Argentine player on the field whenever they play and even when he doesn't perform necessarily well, tells you all you need to know about how his other team mates perform for Argentina. And let's not even talk about their defence... The game of football can't be won by one individual, even as the star of the team, the other players have to "play their roles" too a certain extent for victory to be achieved. And why do people purposely ignore the fact that he plays the playmaker role for Argentina??? Because if you judge him like you judge any other play maker, you'll notice that almost every thing they create going foward comes from him. Doesn't that mean he's doing what he's supposed to do???
Well, Maradona did win it with much lesser teammates in WC86, but I don't expect Messi to reach Maradona's or Pele's level ever in fact.
How many times did his goals give barca the advantage last season even with them having all the possessions last season? uncountable times. And it's the same this season. Even for him being invicible on wednesday, i guess we'll never know how the match would have ended if he didn't appear to lay the pass for Abidal's goal.
was it Maradonna against 11 other players on the field??? NO His other "average" team mates (as you are suggesting) steped up and "played their role" like they were supposed to.
They played their role indeed but they were hard-working squad players, take Maradona out of that team, replace him with just about anyone and Uruguay takes them out at the eighthfinals stage.
was it Maradonna against 11 other players on the field??? NO His other "average" team mates (as you are suggesting) steped up and "played their role" like they were supposed to. And i'm glad you didn't disagree with my arguments as a whole...lol
Argentina team is talented as well there players play in the top clubs in europe so that excuse is not enough.. they have been mismanaged but which generation of football hasnt? zidane with their coach in 2006 WC is recent example.
zidane is nothing compared to messi 2014, messi will lead argentina to wC glory in brazil! will be the ultimate humiliation
This al comes down to the same discussion. Untill mess gets as many world cups goals and plays as good as pele did through his career you can't compare. Messi is the best now but who knows maybe in 3 years or less he won't be.
However says Messi or is either stupid or starting watching football 5 years ago Pele 3 world cups, end of story P.S : Messi is shit with Argentina... As we say in the Rio de la Plata ''MesSIN HUEVOS''
Messi will defiently be in the TOP 5 Of All Time, but in my opinion Pele is #1. Messi is around the same level as Ronaldo 9, Cruyff and Maradona, but Pele is on a level of his own. In 10 years time 1. Pele 2. Maradona 3. Ronaldo 9 (Messi if he plays very good for Argentina since he wont win a World Cup, or Neymar if he wins a World Cup since he has a chance.) 4. Cruyff (Messi if he doesnt play good for Argentina)
Exactly. Messi is nowhere near Pelé's or Maradona's level. Some people are completely clueless and embarrass themselves which such ridiculous statements.
