not sure what's going on with Delfouneso - he's not seeing too much pitch time. we do seem a bit starved of striking options at U21 level TBF.

personally, would rather opt for someone like Berahino who is playing weekly versus Nathan at present.

Andros Townsend to Leeds on loan is confirmed. Should be a good loan for him.

Berahino should stay at U19 level. Don't want Pearce picking too many 1993 born players just to sit on the bench. He already has Keane and Wickham around the squad and promoting more is senseless.

Started v Liverpool, 1st half was his best half in a Villa shirt, 2nd half he offered nothing like rest of team.

Came on v Stoke, very isolated but his work rate was poor.

Being honest though I think he needs to leave us, he's nowhere near good enough atm, and his application is very poor. He seems to be going the way of the Moore brothers which is a real shame as the boy has real talent.

It hasn't helped that we kept him in the reserves for so long but even then he went on loan to Burnley and was apparently dreadful. If he gets a move down to the Championship I think he can get his career back on track as while he's with us he's never going to get a chance in the team.

Could see him playing the first two rounds (or first depending on draw) of the FA cup before he's loaned out. Spurs have Cheltenham on saturday and need to rest the usual starters.

Apparently he might be on his way to the MLS and San Jose Earthquakes.
Could be good for him as he need to grow as a person more than as a player.
Living abroad by on his own might help.

Played well in his first start for Leeds. Championship players can't keep up with his pace and skill level - had to foul him, get cautioned and eventually be sent off. Winning goal scored on a rebound from a Townsend shot.

Surprised there's no mention of Dawson getting a recent run for West Brom. Any know how he's got on?

I've only seen him play in the Everton game which he didn't have much to do in. Nice to see him getting games though.

Yeah, it's nice to have another Prem playing defender in this squad. With Jones and Walker being full time with the seniors (at least in the build up to the Euros) I think Caulker is the only U21 with regular games at that level. Kelly too I guess but his appearances have cut back a bit lately.

Heard Swansea have signed Gylfi on loan. I assume that impacts McEachran's loan there, which is a great shame if so.

Possibly does end that move. Gylfi would be competing for Gower's role though and Josh would play a bit deeper. More competition for places though and they will likely be looking elsewhere in other positions.

Dawson did well for West Brom. He'll never be mobile or technical, but he's a good old fashioned defender and looks like he can handle the Prem.

Brooking said as much on TV a while ago that Pearce is left to his own devices from a coaching and picking his squad point of view but I did wonder if he had power over picking his own scouts.

Will be done in the next couple of days.

Next we need a loan move for Carroll and maybe even Gardner. Don't want him dumped on the bench for the remainder of the season after the amount of games he's missed with that injury.

Carroll sounds like it's only a matter of time, we hope.

Zaha did well today by all accounts. i didn't see the match, but there was a sumptuous touch people oozed about.

Impressive game by Jake Livermore today, he's starting to look a real player.

Nathaniel Clyne linked with Man Utd. £3 million.

Clyne is a good player, would be surprised if he doesn't step up comfortably to Prem level. I've not seen enough quality from him going forward to be top class though imo, especially given how modern fullbacks are used.

To my knowledge, he has been used majorily as a right back.

Then he would be a backup initially atleast, because Rafael before his shoulder injury was pretty regular for us and will be again, doesnt get as many knocks as his brother either.

He's played makeshift left back a few times and had problems. Can't see him ever being up to that role for a club like Man Utd.

There have also been rumours that Steven Caulker might get a senior call for the Holland friendly. Would be interesting.

Yeah, I don't think he is at a point now to overtake Rafael. He's young nd has a good upside however, and with the inconsistencies at rb, be it injuries, etc, not surprising that SAF would take a chance.

Apparently Caulker has a Scottish grandmother and the SFA/Levien want him. Fortunatly Caulker has said it is his dream to represent England:

It's quite good that Capello went to see that Swansea match vs Arsenal, apparently he was invited by Rodgers to watch his English players.
