I must say El Nacional and Barcelona have made the best moves i've seen in years in our futbol (from their part). Smart moves purchasing young promising players along with young and experienced players. Add that to the players they already have and both teams have the potential to be much more competitive this season and possibly make the campeonato more interesting. 2010 season was my favorite in the last few years, but I have a feeling this one can top it. El Nacional just added Dario Bone and Dennis Quinonez to their center mid position on top of Marvin Pita and Flavio Caicedo. They got Luis Batioja up front, John Narvaez to replace Erazo, and a few other players that have joined as well as renewing with Juan Luis Anangono. All they need is a keeper. Unfortunately for them, Fernando Guerrero isn't joining the squad anymore.

I'm really surprised that no team has taken Carlos Feraud or Johnny Uchuari yet. Or any Independiente player for that matter (besides Barcelona signing Jose Ayovi and Narciso). Really surprised.

Jairo Campos is joining Barcelona. Juan Govea is close to joining El Nacional. The top 5 teams are making interesting moves. Emelec is slacking this year with the signings though.

Good move by El Nacional in getting Govea. This kid started off 2011 playing well, then went to the U-20 WC and had a sub par performance, though he did have his moments. He came back to Cuenca where he played well for a couple of games. He got injured in September but when he came back he never really regained his form. Hopefully he's fully recovered, I'm looking forward to seeing him and Anangono paired up.

I'm wondering why Cuenca let him go? He's a young player with a lot of potential. And they are not that deep in forwards...they seem to be banking a lot on Laurito and Byron Cano.

As for Campos, I guess he took the money...Would have preferred he stayed at Dep. Quito where he would have played Libertadores but oh well. What does his signing mean for Perlaza? Bench?? Campos is way better than Perlaza but I read somewhere that he had his spot guaranteed. If indeed he pushes Perlaza to the bench, we can expect Campos and Erazo to be our CB's for the NT. IMO it should be Morante and Erazo but my gut feeling is Rueda might go with the former. If in fact it is Campos and Erazo, our areal game is gonna suck.

Who comes up with all this shit? First it was Boca Jrs. and let me tell you, Thank god he's not coming. This is about as ridiculous as when Oswaldo Minda was supposed to go to Estudiantes and the President came out within 24 hrs and said no way in hell. Yup, Keep blowing smoke!! Someone will bite.

I think Cuenca did it for financial reasons. they've operated in the red for quite some time. It appears that now they're balanced again..which is a good move. a few years ago that team almost folded.

It seems to be like that's the case. Govea is out but they are reportedly getting Chala back.

I find it positive that Campos and Erazo are paired up together in a club team. It will allow them to completely gel together. That's a huge plus for the NT. I think the Morante-Erazo, Erazo-Campos, and Campos-Morante duo's are all strong. We have 3 great central defenders that have no problem playing together as seen in this Qualifier. Any team that has the money to have any of the two would definitely pair them up. So rest assure Campos will not be on the bench. Neither will Erazo. Assuming Barcelona continues to work seriously as they did this last season, it could possibly one of the hardest, if not the hardest defense to penetrate in the campeonato. This Barcelona squad is better than that 2008 one where they spent 10 mil plus. With one HUGE difference- the players are younger, they've been working hard at the youth level for some time now (Byran de La Torre, Dennis Quinonez, Cristopher Suarez, Cristian Cruz, Roosevelt Oyola), and they got a good coach managing the squad like Zubeldia. They're mixing good quality from the cantera, quality foreigners like Diaz, Oyola, etc., and some of the best players from the campeonato nacional. Antonio Noboa has slowly changed the face of that team, so assuming they continue to work seriously, it could be positive for Campos and Erazo to be playing there. I'm crossing my fingers for them.

Today Barcelona announces the last signing rumors are:

    Jairo Campos
    Hugo Velez
Jose Antonio Amaya (Col - Junior)
Pablo Luguercio (Arg - Racing Club)

A player that have been rumored for a while is Fidel Martinez, who was spotted yesterday in Guayaquil, so he might be the fight and final signing.

Our definition of Class, quality players are completely different. Barcos two gigantic misses in the Final Against La U in Quito pretty much summed it up for me. NO THANK YOU.. Barcos is not even close to Bieler.

I heard Hugo Velez might stay in El nacional this morning, but I bet money that changes. Barcelona puts down whatever amount for any player. I highly doubt Fidel Martinez will join Barcelona. The whole point of him staying in Ecuador til June is so that he can get exposure in the Copa Libertadores. He would have been gone now if D.Quito wasn't playing it. He won't be playing in our futbol much longer.

I agree that the Erazo-Campos pairing is solid, and prboably will improve after playing multiple games together. Obviously I'm a little biased, seeing as how I'm an Emelec fan. I will say this tho, neither Campos or Erazo have a good aerial game, something that Morante is strong at. Anyway, it's a good problem to have three CB's that you can count on.

What exactly are they going to do with Perlaza tho? Are they going to attempt to move him? Will Zubeldia go with a line of three?

Noboa has a lot of resources to work with at his disposal so if he doesn't field a winning team...well that's just sad. Bringing in Erazo and Campos were good moves. And if Mina can come anywhere near the amount of goals he scored last season, that's a good signing as well. Signing Ayovi and Montano were good moves, I just have a feeling they're going to rot on their bench. Neither will be eligible to play as a juvenil this year, and my gut feeling is Zubeldia will pair up Mina either with Dusher or one of the foreigners they're rumored of bringing in. Ayovi should have stayed at Independiente where he would have started. Goal.com featured him in one of their articles on promising young players.

Marlon de Jesus is coming to Emelec! It's a good signing for us...very raw but he has potential. Hopefully he regains the form he displayed when he was with El Nacional and the one that one appear every now and then with the U-20's.

None of our young strikers that have gone to Europe over the last year and a half have found success. He's the last one to jump back over the pond, joining Edson Montano and Water Chala

Emelec is taking a gamble on De Jesus, but the upside is huge. That kid definitely has talent, despite his poor accuracy in games at the U20 NT level. With solid playing time, I'm certain a lot of his deficiencies can be turned around.

He's in the same category of Govea, Montano, and Chala. Young players with a lot of potential but still very raw and inexperienced.

I think Govea is way better than Marlon. As for Montano, the kid definitely has something, but he's a ball hog, too. Chala...don't know enough about him to make any sort of quality assessment. What I will say is that I wished he stayed in Russia. If he works hard, he definitely would have gotten a shot. If it's up to the team and they let him go, I understand, but if it was a personal choice, I think it was a foolish one. Our guys return too quickly if things don't well instead of digging in for the fight.

I agree Ayovi should have stayed in Independiente (he only came cuz Narciso recommended him). But i think he actually is eligible for the juvenil regulation. He was 17 earlier this year, and might be 18 now at most but if not he'll have a hard time getting minutes. Don't sleep on Montano- the kids got the most potential out of the young forwards in our country, so i'm hoping he can come through for the good of our NT. I don't think Duscher is in Barcelona for this season he's out.

But Zubeldia is unpredictable. He doesn't always play the foreigner simply cuz he's a foreigner. He knows what he's doing. He'll put the best player he has. And from my point of view Montano's got a really great chance to start. Zubeldia likes playing the youngsters.

I agree with this. He gets lots of hate, but i think once he's fully developed he'll be lethal as well. I think the one kid that ready to have his season is Edson Montano. Same with Govea. If Montano starts scoring from the start, be ready. That kid may be a ball hog, but he'll develop much earlier than Marlon. I got faith in Edson.

I'm a bit disappointed Walter Chala came back but I'm gonna be positive and look at the bright side- We are going to have a campeonato where most of these young promising strikers are going to get playing time. Especially Juan Anangono-Juan Govea, Marlon De Jesus, Walter Chala, and hopefully Edson Montano. I'm just crossing my fingers for Marcos Caicedo, he gets stuck every season. He has a bit of trouble being consistent but when he's at a 100, he's sick.

On another note, John Narvaez is officially gonna be playing in El Nacional. Along with Dennis Quinonez. I can't wait for this season to start, we are going to see all those U-20 players on the field. Should be a really really interesting season and im sure there will be great surprises by the time it's over.

No.no.no.no... I'm not judging one game. I'm judging "THE GAME". A continental Final where it put up or shut up and the difference is lifting a trophy or not. Who cares if barcos scored a million goals against maracaibo or Velez? and what does different style of futbol has do to with anything? A forward's Job is to "SCORE GOALS" period. it doesn't matter if you juke 5 players to do it or you are an area striker. if you don't score goals, you are worthless. That pass from Ezequiel to Barcos was magical at that given time and in Finals is where you see class. Barcos missed that open net like Lupo Quinonez.. no thank you. If Boca jrs gets him, I will personally fly down there and choke someone!!!!

Its going to be interesting to see how all these young strikers play out. They'll all get a decent chance to play, they just have to take advantage of the opportunity given to them and contribute.

As for Caicedo...so much potential but the kid has some major flaws-namely, he's allergic to passing. But he shows glimpses of his potential, and when he's on and not on one of his hog days, he can be the best player on the pitch.

I find it hard for Caicedo to get his shot in Emelec. He needs to go somewhere like El Nacional or Liga where he'll get playing time. That's all he needs. And yes, hopefully his ballhogging fades away as he develops.

Luciano Figueroa to Emelec. I was wondering what happened to that dude, he disappeared off the radar for a while.
