Yeah we know they are one of the best supported French even through the bad times. Its too bad they arent an attractive team for prospective new owners because of their location. Teams who have far less fans who are in more desirable locations are more attractive than Lens are to potential owners. Take St. Etienne vs Nice for example. One club has much better support and history than the other but Im sure some wealthy guy would rather buy Nice because its more "sexier" than St. Etienne is. Thats the only explanation I have because St. Etienne's ownership is incompatent and they are a prime example of a club thats crying out for some foriegn billionare to save them.

The Russians are coming.....maybe. http://www.foot01.com/ligue2/un-milliardaire-russe-pour-sauver-monaco,80305
According to Nice-Matin, Dmitry Rybolovlev, 93rd world fortune is ready to inject 200 million euros into the coffers of the AS Monaco, bottom club in Ligue 2. The Principality is in discussions with the Russian billionaire for his entry into the capital of the club during the winter break. Jean-Marc Goiran, near Prince Albert, could be appointed Deputy Chairman. Youri Djorkaeff could also land on the Rock in an advisory role.
According to information of Nice-Matin, Prince Albert and the Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev will meet today to discuss the recovery plan of AS Monaco. An announcement could take place at the end of this interview. The situation would have changed since the denial issued by Mr. Rybolovlev two weeks ago when it announced that there was "no negotiation" with the Principality. Prince Albert also go to South Africa after this interview, to participate in the Durban summit which ends this weekend. If an ad is to occur, it is likely to be made in the coming hours or be postponed to the return of Prince in the Principality Former President of the OGC Nice from 2002 to 2009, Maurice Cohen could soon land in the organization of the AS Monaco. Indeed, in parallel with the possible sale of the club of the Rock was a Russian investor (read today's meeting between Prince Albert and D. Rybolovlev ), the name of Maurice Cohen was recently mentioned in the Principality, as confirmed by Monaco . rmc on its sports page . According to our information, it would seem that the former club president enemy is at the origin of the probable arrival of Dmitry Rybolovlev as an investor. If the deal goes ahead, Maurice Cohen may have an important role in the AS Monaco, which could call into question the arrival of Jean-Marc Goiran, discussed at length in recent weeks. http://www.planete-asm.fr/actualite/8915-club-maurice-cohen-dans-l-organigramme-de-l-as-monaco.html While Day was charged Monday for all fans of AS Monaco who see Dmitry Rybolovnev the only chance of survival of the Rock Club, Nice-Matin confirmed in its Tuesday edition that the businessman Russian and Prince Albert were well met Monday morning. This was the first face to face discussion between the two men about the surrender of the club, Rybolovnev were represented in previous interviews. If no official statement was made at the end of this appointment, the case is progressing well according to a source close to the Nice-Matin said. Prince Albert would otherwise stated on Radio Monaco: "I do not give you the scoop for now but we are working on the future of this team. » " Dmitry Rybolovnev would set up an organization "English", that is to say he would like to have with him a general manager for a sporting and a president for the rest of the management. Nice-Matin confirms that both names are expected to compete this second post: Jean-Marc Goiran and Maurice Cohen, as we mentioned last night. If the Russian billionaire seems determined to invest heavily in the club from the Principality, the case could however take some time to come because there must deal with many legal issues. Rybolovnev, who wishes to become majority shareholder of the club, certainly did not want to see this drag on some details, since the daily Riviera said that he hopes to take advantage of the next transfer window to strengthen seriously the size of the current last Ligue 2. http://www.planete-asm.fr/actualite/8918-club-la-reprise-du-club-serait-en-bonne-voie.html
Nantes eliminated in the Coup de France by Tour d'Auvergne de Rennes, from the glorious la Ligue de Bretagne de football.
All went down hill when they signed Christian Wilhelmsson, similar to how Strasbourg went to hell after getting Pontus Farnerud, similar to how Monaco collapsed after signing Petter Hansson, might be a trend, probably wise to only let Rennes bring Swedish players to Ligue 1.
Paris and Monaco are very international cities so foreign ownership makes sense to me. Nantes is quintessentially French so I think they should remain under French ownership.
Luis Fernandez is expected to become sports director of PFC. http://www.foot-national.com/foot-paris-fc-luis-fernandez-veut-s-investir-30849.html
In the official press release announcing the arrival of Dmitry Rybolovlev in the organization of the AS Monaco, the Russian billionaire has spoken on this acquisition: I do not consider this operation as simply an acquisition but as the beginning of a new effective partnership in the interest of the development of AS Monaco FC. I am a strong supporter of football. Having lived long enough in Monaco, I realize that AS Monaco FC is not just a sports team of the Principality but also represents one of the main symbols of the Principality, pride and traditions. I think this club has great potential. I hope he will realize how full of both national and European level. » " For his part, Prince Albert II said that the arrival of the shareholder was inevitable: "The demands of modern football facing many clubs, even high-level financial difficulties. It was inevitable that the ASM-FC is the ideal partner to develop. The agreement opens a new page in the history of the football team so dear to the Principality which I hope it gradually found that stature in the past, has made her one of the jewels of sporting life of Monaco "
Raymond Domenech wants to be involved with a Paris team. Doesnt mention any specific ones. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2012/20120102_230255_domenech-a-un-reve-parisien.html
Luis Fernandez and PFC advancing along http://www.leparisien.fr/sports/ile...-le-paris-fc-ca-avance-03-01-2012-1794583.php
Red Star responds to Domenech http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2012/20120103_192038_le-red-star-interesse-par-domenech.html Domenench at Red Star and Fernandez at PFC ? Its all too good to be true.
Interesting things going on for the Paris minnows. Hopefully they can at least entrench themselves in Ligue2 in the near future. Under my stewardship in football manager, I got Red Star to ligue1 and even won the the Coupe de la ligue, and subsquent Europa League birth. It can be done!!
Indeed, SC Bastia just won back to back champions league titles 2017 and 2018. Talking about Paris clubs I also had L'Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien dominating europe in one of the older games, it can be done Raymond!
Monaco wants to be at the top of Ligue 1 in 3 years http://www.planete-asm.fr/actualite/9022-club-franzi-l-objectif-en-haut-de-la-l1-d-ici-3-ans.html
AK rumors for Monaco manager http://www.foot01.com/equipe/monaco/kombouare-dans-les-petits-papiers-de-monaco,82759 I'll take him for now to get us back up but in a few years if we are title contenders then I want the best manager possible (ie non French manager with European experience.)
Red Star are finally out of the relegation zone and Monaco are finally off the bottom of L2. Happy days are here again !
So after 22-23 games played: 1. Bastia 42pts 2. Reims 41pts 3. Clermont 40pts 4. Nantes 34pts 19. Monaco 20pts Shaping up very nicely.
would be nice to see Tours win vs Clermont foot which would give some room for Nantes need to play in ligue 1
Good result! And another Bastia late goal to beat Reims 1-0 and another Monaco fiasco. Good times in Ligue 2.
