He should be looking at players who already play on the pro level in terms of skill. Atlanta Beat only have 3 picks: 1, 4, 23 atm (depending on how WPS looks at mj's traded picks, it could be 1, 6, 23). In other words, there are two fairly high first round picks. He should not be picking underrated players who still need to be transformed and need a couple years growth to be able to contribute at a high level for those spots.

On the Breakers' field it's pretty clearly marked, as I recall. :p

LOL well said, must spread rep before giving SCF more.

I tend to forget about that since it is not as obvious and annoying from my seats as it is on TV....

sorry i played equipment football in the states, so that's how i view the field, lines or no lines.

anyway...sbfc has signed a couple of players. i'm wondering if they are bring casey back. i'd like to see her and press up top like someone said. i know she's an enigma but a young stable player like press as a running mate might bring out those 10 goals in her.

that would give atlanta a playoff caliber attack if she stepped up along with one of those rookies they will probably pick up.

    GET IT DONE FITZ!

Like Katreus points out, if they use their top pick they should be looking at top talent for that pick. If they go by their past draft history they'll trade picks for players and need to carefully consider which players. Also, with like 2-3 players signed, they can't (or shouldn't) fill the roster w/ just rookies or in need of "transformation" There are a ton of pros w/ good experience out there looking for a job.

She is, potentially, a *very* nice pick up for ATL.

    Re: Moros

*sigh* I get nervous when this guy starts talking about versatility and moving players around.

Funny how we're slowly turning into North MagicJack (or magicJack Lite).

I get where you're coming from, but he actually does have a point. Moros could be a really good holding midfielder, and was making a good amount of overlapping runs up the field when she was a member of the Flash last year. I'd still rather have her on the backline, though....I was seriously hoping that she would be moved to solidify the right side of the defense (where Candace Chapman used to play) this season....unfortunately, the Flash's loss is Atlanta's gain. :D

I've followed Moros since she joined the W-League Freedom in 2007, and her natural role is attacking midfielder from the right flank. Gabarra converted her to right flank defender at the start of the 2010 season where, not surprisingly, she was great at supporting the attack but not so good at defending close to goal. I'm not sure why she's listed as a forward because I've never seen her in that role.

Regardless, she's a very smart player who gives you everything she's got. She's a good pickup no matter where she ends up playing.

if that happens, and taking into account that the beat have been quoted as saying "we'll address the up top situation in the draft", it suggests leroux (or another forward) going #1.

The Beat announced today that they have officially signed Lauren Fowlkes as well as re-signing Katherine Reynolds (yay!).

and Jeff Kassouf reports "multiple sources" have confirmed the Beat's signing of Yael Averbuch. Can't wait to see how the PA announcer handles her name....

Slowly, but surely, we're getting there.

not my pick as a 3rd forward, i would have preferred casey and see if press and sydney could shape her. anyway, i'm assuming kelley can also go as a winger.

Thanks to mingyung for pointing this article out.

Steph Cox is apparently onboard now as well, so we have the Boston back 4 minus Scott. Bretherton also goes on to say that Cox is unlikely to make the Oly roster, so she shouldn't be missing any time there, which was my initial concern when I saw we signed her.

Looks like we just about have a starting 11 now, but I'm wondering if Galanis will use O'Hara up top or up the wings from MF with our #1 pick next to Press. Also not sure if KO will make the Oly team or not (Bretherton doesn't include her in his list of WNT signings, ugh!)

i still don't trust fitz but he has enough mustard to win some games here if he brings in sydney. will he use the #1 or make another clown trade like he did with his #4? and no way to you draft lindsey with the #1, no way. don't care about a stanford connection. wps defenses would eat up press, lindsey and o'hara in a 4-3-3.

had good attendance without any star power. now, he has some marketing brand. 4000+ per game?
