does anyone know where I can order a New England Flag patch for my replica jersey- where the USA flag would go. Couldnt find one via the googles, I think it'd look pretty cool.

Yeah, and it isn't helped when some of their idiot fans come here and on other teams' borads and tell fans that they should just do what Seattle does. Like the time someone said we should "just find another owner who loves soccer and who would buy the team from Kraft and build us a downtown stadium." Doh! Why didn't we think of that! What a brilliant eye-dear. Reminds me of the South Park underpants gnomes.

In fairness, things have toned down a bit from them. The legitimate, intelligent, rational Sounders fans bristle (rightfully so) at being lumped with these idiots, and of course, many of the arrogant newbie tools from a couple of years ago have learned a lesson or two. Still, it takes time to shed a reputation, and it may take a few more years before it completely runs its course there.

Agreed. I thought they only averaged a 2-3k, especially the last few years they were in the USL.

I should have been more specific, I didn't mean average attendance, just one off games. Regardless, their best attended games in the USL or A League were better attended than our worst games in MLS. Drawing 8k-10k for a minor league soccer game is pretty impressive IMO

I'd organize a group buy on a custom patch if there was sufficient interest in such a thing. The price is high if you have a low number of units (6@16 each, but drops quite a bit if you get to a reasonable number (25 @5.16 each, 50 @2.76 each, you're practically saving money ordering twice as many at that point).

If I can get at least 4 other people to commit to send me $20 each, I'll put in a buy for as many patches as I can get for that amount, and split them up. PM if interested.

The difference being that the polyesters of today are not your fathers's evil double knit poly's. I used to despise everything poly until they made huge advancements in the way they weave it. Today's polys are wonderful and comfortable and the breath so much better. Although they'll never absorb moisture like cotton can, they've figured a way to wick it away and let it get outside the garment to evaporate. I love the materials they are using for soccer shirts now. I even buy the new polys in the summer for my golf shirts... I just have to switch back to natural fibers when the weather gets cold as they do a better job keeping me warm than poly does.

PS: Cotton soccer shirts would be more expensive to make and the entities selling the shirts would make much less profit. They can sell these new polys at premium prices and the cost of manufacturing is relatively cheap. That means huge profits.

Swatches, weaves, fabric properties. We're getting an all out lesson on textiles in these last few weeks! :D

Agreed about polyester. It still gets a bad rap, but it's a good fiber. Hell, under armor is made with polyester/spandex. Most "breathable" and "moisture wicking" fabrics are mad with polyester, nylon, rayon, and spandex blends. Synthetic fabric really has surpassed cotton and wool in performance, luxury, and feel.

I've been bugging Bilello on Twitter to make that a one-time July 4th (or closest to that date) 3rd jersey much like that. He told me that because we got new home and away this year, we probably won't get a 3rd this time around.

Hoping that the unspoken implication is that next year we get a third.

Please tell me why that isn't random and completely not thought out?

Those are the colors of the Teamen jerseys. Not really sure what your gripe is.

As I mentioned to ProfZodiac last week, I'd love to see what a mockup would look like if we took Philly's old template and do the following to create a retro-inspired kit based on both the Teamen kits and the NE Flag:

    - Red body
    - White for the center stripe and shoulders (similar to the red "T" in the teamen's jerseys)
    - Green (from the tree in the flag) for the Adidas stripes on the sleeves and the collar trim

The overall effect being the a version of the Teamen's jersey design adapted to a standard Adidas template using the colors found in the flag.

In yet another department where you can point to other league teams and say “but they did it”- how then did Portland & RSL (among others) get 3rds? Bribe some Adidas officials?
