Opening Day 2012 will Be April 7th at PPL Park vs WNY - This is unofficial from Coach Riley...Fury will be joining the league... Paul says he is not leaving until they they win a championship (said it with a wink though)

    Awesome!
I know you said "unofficial," but do you have something you can link?
(I'm really antsy to start a WPS 2012 Wiki page, and the more sources I can get, the better. X-D Though I saw on PHI's Twitter that there was an event tonight, so if it's just word-of-mouth, that's fine.)

btw... "Fury"??? Twitter was all abuzz with Foley leaking about his new position in CT - since I know current Fury team are NY and LonGisland, does this mean there will be TWO new WPS teams this coming summer?

Wow, adding a Long Island AND a Connecticut team would be regional overkill IMHO. I know west coast expansion likely isn't feasible this season but overloading the tri-state area would be counterproductive and just split existing fans rather than bringing in new ones. Just my opinion of course, and obviously they have to go where the investors are, but this just seems like a bad idea if the existing 6 teams are sticking around.

aren't there enough millions of people in that area to support several teams at just 5000 per team?

There was an Ottawa Fury in the W-League. Thought that's maybe what was meant

Not Ottawa... Paul's Long Island team is the NY Fury
Yes, I attended the Philly event last night - coaches clinic

Following is purely rumours and not absolutes
    7 Team League
The rumour is that Chicago does not have enough investors yet
CT is not scheduled to come into the league this year (this could change)
Several West coast teams have to sign letters of intent for 2013 by Mid November
    -----------------
Now back in the WUSA, the Power played on Long Island and had the WORST attendance in 2003

two different states, so whats the problem? we arent talking about nfl teams. 4000-5000 a game, not 60000-70000. wps teams are really just city teams anyway, not really regional teams like people are making them out to be. no one in manhattan and queens is running over to buffalo for a flash game. and one in san fran or san diego will be driving to orange cty for games.

No doing that would be plain stupid, since WY Flash plays their games in Rochester ;)

If I were in New York City and wanted to catch a WPS match, there are three teams closer than the Flash.

I wouldn't go that far. A friend of mine and I drove from LA to San Diego to catch a WUSA match back in the day. It's not much different than driving up from the DC area to catch a Cheesesteaks match, which I did several times this past season.

I live in San Diego. An Orange County team woul likely play in Fullerton, which is a 2h05 Amtrak ride, more or less. L.A. is upwards of 3 hours (DT SD to DT LA). Not doable for me all that much.

Agreed... I live about 90 minutes from LA and used to go to Sol games frequently.

Sadly I just saw on SBI that the WPS season is to be canceled. Shame because I was really hoping the Independence would take it all this year since they were so close last year. Hopefully they are able to bring back a Women's league next year!
