Tomorrow night! From what I have read, this season is going to be the most brutal yet. It's back to the killing. The last couple of seasons have been very good but a lot of focus on the big bad rather than individual kills. Looking forward to the show getting back to it's roots. Debra is also suppose to get her first hint that something isnt exactly right with her brother. I think it is about time she stumbles across some evidence and start going that direction.
Started off brutally enough with the two ambulance drivers. I love Edward James Olmos, I think he's a fantastic actor. This storyline has some real promise and a helluva creepout factor.
Argh. I was going to watch an online bootleg tonight and forgot all about it. I'll have to wait until I get time again this weekend. == My coworker said to me, 'I have a feeling something bad is going to happen this season.' To which I replied, 'What? Are they bringing Rita back?'
Solid start to the new season. Debra will get the promotion Angel thinks he should get. She handled herself quite well in the restaurant and that video is about to go viral as you kids like to say. Looks like someone is trying to bring on the end of times. It has begun.
Whew. Dexter gets a BJ, Deb gets a proposal from Quinn, AND a promotion to Lieutenant, Batista gets screwed over again ... And we're only two episodes in. Not sure how I feel about the big bad killers this season. Well, not them personally, but the religious thread binding the season together. Right now, I think Matthews is setting up Morgan to fail miserably, which he can blame on LaGuerta. I think Deb's going to surpass his (and her) expectations and do a good job, with a few stumbles along the way. When I first read this, before watching the first episode, I thought you were talking about the series as a whole. I didn't think you meant the actual Apocalypse. Unless the writers mean for it to be a less than subtle way of ending the series.
I havent seen the episode yet but I was a little worried they were going to give the job to Deb. I dont think that is very realistic. She has only had her Shield for like 2 years and Bautista like 20? No way that happens.
Ahhh I still miss Doakes. Have completely missed the start of season 6...it just crept up but I think the writers are angling to put Quinn as the next Doakes but without the anger, savvy or upfrontness (or everything out in the open). I need to start watching this again. Surprise motherf*cker!
] I don't think the writers would have allowed that. Doakes was a by-the-book ex spec ops hardasz who didn't even laugh, much less think about date someone on the force. He was all business. Poor Doakes didn't deserve to die the way he did. Doakes was Dexter's perfect foil and one of my favorite characters that are dead (Trinity being a close second). BUt after he started following Dexter, it was the beginning of the end. Having Doakes around after he finds out Dexter's secret wouldn't have worked in Dexter's code or Doakes's world. Doakes was pretty black/white, good/bad, right/wrong type of guy. I see Quinn as a water-downed Doakes. It also really annoys me, they killed off Doakes but they're not killing of Quinn. Even though Doakes was kind of a freak with Dexter (not that he's wrong LOL) he still was a good guy, which is why I enjoyed watching Lila die. EDIT - Masuka is a great character but for a different reason. I'm surprised he hasn't figured out Dexter. http://youtu.be/CTFGCOfeY-E EDIT EDIT EDIT - ON to season 6!!
I started reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night and I am surprised how closely the first season and the book follow each other or at least through the first 70 pages.
I just remember Deb going over to Doakes' place/mom's place, to have dinner, and she got along fantastically well with his family. And there was a scene or two where you could see him soften a bit.
'******** off and die!' Decent episode, although a little slow. I have a feeling Quinn's going to do something stupid and Dexter won't be able to ignore it. Even though I've been pretty bored with the apocalypse storyline, the bodies on horses bit at the very end is pretty damn cool -- as well as the previews of the next episode. Oh, and good on Deb for telling LaGuerta to stick it.
Yea, when did LaGuerta turn into such a beoyotch? Sounds like the new detective is going to get some work right off the bat. And Yamata scoring with that chick? That has potential to be funny even though she's a freak for stealing that hand.
Since the first episode of the show. I am getting the feeling that there might be more than meets the eye with her. That character has been added to the show for a reason other than being great eye candy.
Sh*t. I missed it again!! I really need to get on this. I know Mos Def is in it. Edward James Olmos should make a very creepy serial killer/mentor paired along with Colin Hanks who is going to make a odd killer. Odd in the sense that he looks so normal and you wouldn't think twice of getting in an elevator and doing the small talk thing until you get to work. Creepy in an unassuming way. EDIT - I would like to see Ed Harris play an antagonist serial killer. IMHO he would be a great serial killer. I would also like to see something a bit different from the writers. The pattern of Dexter getting to know a serial killer, track him, almost get killed by the serial killer and then serial-kill the serial killer. I'd like them to explore a black widow/female serial killer angle.
EDIT -- Apparently you can't edit after a certain time frame Watched a few espisodes at work (boss is away). I am digging the Olmos/Hanks characters. The religious overtones are a bit much with Brother Sam (Mos Def) on one end of the spectrum and the other 2 other. I think the blonde grad student was on Heroes. I never wtached it regularly but think she was in it. I love this show because even in the dark, heavy content there is some funny stuff: Masuka reminding himself to get Barry Manilow tixs and The old serial killer saying "I goggled your name on the internet" and Dexter's look on his face was priceless. And I forgot about the woman in Season 4 who killed her family. I just want to see a black widow angle and see if the writers can pull it off.
I think that's Brea Grant. She played the really fast chick who stole the formula from Hiro and had to walk with leg braces before the event that led to their gaining powers.
