For what it is worth he averaged a 6.5 rating from fans and he went 90.

I hope JK sees him has a defender bc Spector has a crowded midfield to fit into.

its starting to look like thats what they bought him in for; CB. they obviously lost Roger Johnson early on, and now they just lost Scott Dann, so i think thatll be his home for a bit.

Hughton's a really good coach who knows what hes doing so if thats his plan for Specs i have no complaints.

How do you figure? He's been played in midfield exclusively.

Specs goes 90 in a 3-0 win against Millwall as a defensive mid.

He didn't make the squad for the first 2 games of the season but has started every match since.

Any Birmingham fans able to shed some light on the quality of his play and the fans reception of Spector?

These quotes are from a thread about him on the official Birmingham forum:

Solid as a rock against Millwall, he did the holding midfielder / breaking up play position and did it very well i thought.

He will be one of those players who will play well week in week out, do their job without getting the plaudits.

A great signing from Mr H.

He was excellent against Nacional too. I think, in fairness, the Championship is his level and even then he doesn't really have the ability on the ball to run forward with it, but he's solid enough in the centre.

My MOM v Watford as well, does the simple things right and is a very useful player for us!

I noticed the same thing, very hard working breaking up the opposition, bit of an unsung hero.

Like I've said before, he's a good CM for the Championship, and probably part-time starter/squad player in the EPL. When he plays fullback, fans light him up, and deservedly so.

Spector got dropped to the bench and did not play in yesterday's 2-0 victory over Leicester.

7 years ago Spector was 18.

Dude has been around so long I think many of us forget just how young he is (relatively).

I will say that sometimes I wonder what would have happened had Spector not made the move to West Ham in 2006. That season, ManU had terrible injury problems along his backline & I fully believe Spector would have gotten more time than he or Sir Alex thought he would when the sale was made. That said, Spector has made a good/decent carer from himself and at 25 has (knock wood) a good number of years ahead of him.

This is very common for products of big clubs' youth systems. Even a poor player like Karbassiyoon was given a cup of coffee.

I think Spector would have been an excellent CB or CDM but for some reason he was used as RB even though he was slow and tall. Hell I think Spector would have turned into a decent striker.

He played striker in his youth in Chicago and even when he first went to Man U.
People sometimes seem to forget that injuries robbed him of much of his promise. our Olympic team in the summer of '08 would have had some different results had he been available.
