Well I really love Gio's style of play,he's my favorite player but Chicharito is alot more consistent and he finds the back of the net in almost every game he plays. He's a natural goalscorer but as far as technical skills go,Gio is the best without a doubt.
close thread How many concacaf players can say they are a 2 time premier league champion? Dwight Yorke....who else? Chicharito will be able to say it at the end of the season 1. Chicharito 2. Gio Dos Santos 3. ?
Why are people so obsessed with this cicarito? Most of his poacher goals are pretty damn lucky. I dont get it, if Altidore was at ManU getting service from world class players like Giggs, Rooney, and Nani he would tear the league up with tap ins as well. Now don't get me wrong, the kid has a lot of heart, but it takes more than heart. My vote goes to Howard for being at the top level longer than anyone else from Concacaf.
You're damn right it does, which is why he has been a success since arriving. If you think his goals are "Lucky" than you must be new to watching soccer. Either that, or you are just completely ignorant to the game(Or just being an angry hater). If you don't also pay attention to what happens off the ball than you really aren't taking into account the importance of good movement from a deadly striker. This takes skill and instinct. Those who only notice who is on the ball will never take note of what deadly movement is. The game isn't all about chops and stepovers Hell, just knowing how to make fantastic runs takes a great amount of skill. You think pundits never shut up about his fantastic movement for no reason? Or because he is lucky? Puh-lease. He isn't a headache for defenders for no reason. That's without mentioning his outstanding: Speed Heading ability Finishing Target-Man hold up play Work-ethic He didn't score 20 goals for Man U last year and 7 Goals in the Gold Cup this year because of luck. Jozy Altidore? Please....he faces crap opposition all the time with the USMNT and he has half as many goals as Hernandez does with Mexico....while Hernandez has less caps. This guy has never been considered a prolific goal-scorer...honestly he may possess a decent amount of talent but the only word the comes to my head when thinking of Altidore is "Lazy". Man U would have never signed him to begin with....well i mean they should have right? Since he could of scored the goals Hernandez has. So yeah, When Sir Alex Ferguson signed Hernandez he knew he wasn't that good but he just magically knew he was going to score tap in goals. So he got looked at by Man U and then had success there....because of luck. Wowzers.....
You could have said the same thing about Gerd Müller. Altidore received decent service at Villareal and didn't put very many in, nor did he do much in South Africa last year.
If you knew what you were talking about, YOU would be at United as a manager. Besides, tap-ins aren't as simple as you think.... ask Clint.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0CLkbwnN14"]Clint Dempsey whiffs in Gold Cup USA vs. Guadeloupe - YouTube[/ame]
I went with Hernandez, but really, one of the American keepers (or both), should have been on the list. Friedel would have won this poll some times in the past. And Howard deserves mention as well. I'm not so certain about Gio as #2.
When would have Friedel have won? Before Chicharito there was this defender named Marquez who who got tired of winning champions league, La LigaBBVA, and Club World Cup titles and being a starter on one of the greatest clubs in the history of football. who do you think is #2?
Can't believe what I just read! Why are you downplaying his success? You should be happy that such a talented player(who could become one of the greats of his generation) belongs to(unfortunately) what is a crap region in CONCACAF. I'm Canadian by the way.
Im an American and i hate to say this being a huge USMNT fan but Chicharito is the best player in CONCACAF right now. He would be the top player on any other National team in CONCACAF. I do believe Tim Howard would be number two on this list.
How can anyone reasonably argue that Chicharito is not the best player in CONCACAF? His "fluke" goals are a testament to his excellent movement and predatory instinct. I am not a Mexican fan by any means but I always enjoy watching him play with Manchester United. His numbers don't lie and the fact that he plays regularly for Man U says it all. Perhaps people are not sold on Chicharito because he is not flashy? He does not have great skill on the ball like Nani for example, and to be honest his first touch and passing are not extraordinary either when you watch him in England or even compared to the other players on Mexico. But one word comes to mind when I think of him....POACHER. That is why he scares the hell out of me as a Canada fan. You can't teach what he has, you either have it or you don't. And as he loses his speed in comming years, he will always find the net. Think "Filippo Inzaghi". Cheers, Obinna
