I'd rather it be in February as part of a pre-season tour. December is such a pointless time to have the match. Oh wait, Beckham & Keane will be on temporary assignment somewhere in Europe then...never mind.

Unless Beckham's contract is renewed, December is when it ends. Thus, if you are going to use him to pad AEG's pockets and help pay for Farmers' Field, it has to be before year end.

Yeah, I guess my sarcasm didn't come across as well as I would have liked.

I like it because the club world cup is in december some where in asia (most likely japan) so If the team can keep fit it will be easier to deal with the likes of internacional and barcelona. I know we haven't made it (yet) but I am sure hoping to have us represent concacaf soon!

Haven't made it yet? Isn't there a whole 'nother year IF we get out of our group. I think we are looking at a 2012 WCC, not this year's tournament.

well, to be a little selfish, since i left the US in may 2010 I haven't got to see the Galaxy play live. So the fact that they are coming to Melbourne where I live is great since I didn't get to see them live at all this year and I really miss going to the HDC and jumping around in the stands. Hopefully when Dec 6th roles around i will be cheering for the SS and MLS cup champs :D

Technically....LA have made it. It's just that the 2001 version was cancelled.

Japan is confirmed for 2012. The next two editions will be given to either the UAE, South Africa, Morocco, or Iran (TBA in October.)

Iocaine powder comes from Australia, which, as everyone knows, is peopled entirely by criminals.
Fortunately, Mike Magee spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocaine powder.

Okay, I can't be the only one that saw this thread and thought:

"With all of this fixture congestion why are the Galaxy adding a charity match against Sylvester Stallone, Pele etc.?"

Tell me I'm not the only one old enough to remember that movie.

Best soccer movie ever! I still remember my high school coach showing us this movie a couple days before a CIF playoff game...the movie was old then, and that was in '89

As a long-time Ipswich Town fan, yes I'm familiar with the move and own a copy. Kevin Beattie; Paul Cooper; Kevin O'Callaghan; Russell Osman; Laurie Sivell; Robin Turner and John Wark all appear in the flick. :)

Informative article from Australia's FourFourTwo. 11K tickets sold for this match, but they're aggressively marketing it as a celebrity event rather than a soccer game. Probably more informative are the comments, however. SG members aren't pleased that their tickets are being jacked up for this, and that they're going to be made to not be SGs for the evening.

    Re: It's Galaxy vs. Victory!

Yeah I was reading on some A-League boards that fans are pissed. The cheapest ticket is supposed to be $60. People are saying they would likely go if it was $30 or less. Sad that they are pricing out soccer fans that would have fun at a game to see how our leagues stack up.

Didn't we have some A-League teams over here before for pre-season? I hope they come again I would love to watch us play a Melbourne Victory or Sydney.
