Bosna has a great history in basketball. They came from Yugoslavia, one of the greatest basketball nations in the world. We've (as an independent nation) qualfied for 7 Eurobaskets, the latest one being for this year. We're currently in the Adecco Ex-Yu Cup, which is a friendly cup of all ex-yugo nations. In group A, we've beaten Macedonia 55-50, and lost to Serbia 81-62. We face Slovenia for third place. All Bosnaki basketball discussion and news goes here.
How about we rename this the "Other Sports Thread" instead? We should just have one thread for all our other sports instead of making separate ones.
I just thought since the Eurobasket starts this month, and the Adeco friendly cup going on, we could keep this as just the basketball thread. For now at least? Maybe once Eurobasket is finished, we could rename it Other Sports thread.
Pathetic showing today from our team, don't think we have much hope in this campaign, we don't even have our best players for goodness' sake.
We could thank Slovenia for not having our best plyers. At least Mirza Teletovic and Nihad Djedovic are on. Meanwhile, someone left to play for Turkey.
Serbia kicked our butt today - and as long as the international rules regarding NT membership stand we will continue losing players to Slovenia, Turkey, and others. It sucks but its true.
In all honesty, today, we are playing the 3rd place game against Slovenia. Considering they have about 15 of our players, its pretty gay, but we should win. We need to get our act together. Domercant acts like Kobe Bryant and never passes, Teletovic does EVERYTHING in the game.
Adecco Ex-Yu Cup Final Standings: 1. Serbia 2. Croatia 3. Slovenia 4. Bosna i Hercegovina 5. Montenegro 6. Macedonia Mirza Teletovic was our best player in this tournament, leading us in scoring every game. He averaged 16 points. He's carrying the scoring burden for our team, and at Eurobasket, hopefully Nihad Djedovic or someone else helps him. Losing 57-52 against a Pot 1 Europe team is definitely not bad, especially when their team has plenty of Bosnians. Our first Eurobasket game is on August 31, and we play Greece. After that, we take on Monetengro, Qualifier 1, Croatia, and Macedonia. My predicition: Greece Croatia Bosna ------------ Montenegro Macedonia Q1 I think we can defeat Q1 (piece of cake), Macedonia (we beat them in the Ex-Yu Cup), and Monetengro (this one should be close, but I think we can beat them). In the next round, I think we fail, and we end our Eurobasket there.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - This definitely blows. He's our best center, and now we'll have to rely on Edin Bavcic. The FSBiH is terrible. Worse than the Football FA. We can't even get young players to even consider us, and all youth programs are in Division B. Our senior NT barely qualified for Eurobasket, and we can't get players like Emir Preldzic and Mirza Begic (who are fully Bosnian) to play for us. It's so depressing...
I know nothing of Bosnian basketball, put from what I've seen Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia own our asses each year correct?
Pretty much, yeah. Except this year, we only lost to Slovenia by 7 in the Ex-Yu Cup. Not mention we have players playing for Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia instead of us, their own home nation. Those traitors... But anyways, our best talents are Mirza Teletovic and Nihad Dedovic. Teletovic is a 3-pount machine and he plays for Caja Laboral, a great Spanish team. He can also rebound very well, and his main position is power forwar, but he can play at the small forward position. As for Dedovic, he plays for Lottomatica Roma, but is expected to be drafted in the NBA Draft next year. He's a straight up shooting guard, his height is good for the position, just like his weight. He plays well on the defensive end of the court, as well. After that, the talent takes a severe drop on our NT. We have Kenan Bajromvic, who plays small/power forward and plays tough and fihgts for the ball. We also have a foreign, black guy who's an OK point guard. Nemanja Gordic is a decent player. But we could really be better had we had better youth programs, more money, etc. For more information on our team, here's the wikipedia page and Eurobasket 2011 home: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_national_basketball_team http://eurobasket2011.com/en/cid_4,...ZI6EoANOrUf9le2.season_2011.roundID_7983.html
No problem, man. We're in Eurobasket which starts this month, August 31. We play Greece on the 31st. We're in a group of Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, ourselves, Macedonia, and a qualifier. Basically an Ex-Yugo group, lol. I expect third place from this game, and then I see us failing in the second round. Sorry for typing so much, lol.
http://sportsport.ba/bh_kosarka/5758-za-slavlje-bh-kosarkasa-nad-italijom/62422 We beat Italy 58:57 WTF lol
A win's a win, lol. But, they have some NBA players in Andrea Bargnani and Marco Bellinelli, while we were missing Dedovic (our second best player). Good result, actually.
FT - Greece 87-62 Bosnia-Herzegovina Well, we shouldn't have expected much from this game. Pot 1 Eurobasket team against a Pot 5 Eurobasket team, and this is a common result in those games. If we had Ratko Varda, we definitely would've put up a better fight, but most likely we still would've seen a loss. Our top scorer was Kikanovic, with 12 points total. After that, Kapelan and Domercant with eight and Teletovic and Gorsic with 7 points apiece. Next up, we'll take on Poland in a pretty even game, in terms of competitiveness.
FT - Poland 87-68 Bosnia-Herzegovina We lost yet again, in a blow-out to Poland. I expected much more from this game, I thought we could put up a fight against these guys. It seems we'll be heading into the Eurobasket with absolutely no momentum... Poljaci nadigali BH. Kosarkase http://www.sportsport.ba/bh_kosarka/poljaci-nadigrali-bh-kosarkase/62533
