She deserves them. And, she's hot in her own right.

Just because you don't find someone attractive enough to propose to doesn't mean others agree.

I'd be willing to bet money that there are a bunch of people interested in proposing to Abby.

Lloyd definitely had her worst game of the year, but we will need two central midfielders that can get stuck in against Japan. Sweden woefully lacked that not having Seger or Fischer available. Besides, Japan faced one of the most squirrelly keepers in the womens' game. I dub her the Female David James of Scandanavia. Japan won't be able to gobble up the GK mistakes against the US. Yes Japan will pass circles around us, but they won't get a sniff at goal. Our back line is incredibly defensively proficient if the opponent doesn't possess Usain Bolt type speed.

I sincerely hope you're knocking on all sorts of wood and keeping track of all lucky charms with all that potentially jinxing talk. Angerer is one of the best keepers in the world. Japan scored on her. The Germans thought they'd be able to score on a Japanese defense and keeper that didn't look 100% convincing against a "big, strong" team until that point.

In fact, maybe we all should stock up on lucky charms. Japan has Team Of Destiny written all over them.

    They looked *really* good yesterday.

The Japanese players feel that they are the social antidote to the quake/tsunami which far out-trumps our we-believe-in-each-other story line.

Yep. As I said elsewhere, I want to cheer for them. Except for that whole playing my team thing. Which means I won't be cheering for Japan. And so if we're cheering against destiny and karma we need to be especially cognizant of all potential jinxing we might do. And avoid it.

I can't do that alone. I mean, an entire Japanese nation and all the rest of the world wants Japan to win. The storyline alone....

And Sawa is pretty much amazing.

It is a team effort everyone. Be as positive as you like just observe all good luck & good karmic protocols.

Yes, but Nadine made the mistake that allowed Japan to score. Her positioning was poor. She didn't cover her nearpost and when the Japanese forward took the shot she instintively leapt to cover the far post when the forward shot it at the 3 yard gap at the near post.

I know we have been sparring, but the USWNT has my confidence. Not my over-confidence.

Because it's too late to fix it after the pattern loses for us. Pia's lineup lost to a team that lost to the team we're playing on Sunday. We nearly lost to Brazil and were in deep trouble with France using Pia's preferred lineup. And Japan's style is geared to take advantage of just the weaknesses her favorites have. We can't afford very many sloppy turnovers from Lloyd or cheap fouls near our defending end.

This really should not be a question, Sauerbrunn for my tastes. I would still like to see someone(anyone) start in place of ARod, what a waste of a field position to start every game.

And the interesting part is her supposed other guy was in town earlier in the tournament.

    PS-she has a sister.

Aha, best explanation yet with 100 words or less. Some may will call this a subjective argument, but the bulk of it makes sense...

Agreed, offensively, Llyod has been mostly ineffective this tournament. Cheney was running a tutorial on how to control the ball and dish it out yesterday, Lloyd either lost it or sent a purposeless long ball most of the time. Also, Lloyd appeared to be much less effective chasing and winning the ball. She either did not run after the French players, or she was too late and ended up giving up unnecessary fouls - and was lucky enough not to pick a yellow card. Rapione was much more active both offensively and defensively and definitely provided the spark that was missing.

Not that I want Lloyd in (I'd much prefer Cheney in the attacking CM role) but let's not forget that Cheney to the middle along with Rapinoe and Morgan on was greatly helped by the substitution of the French defensive CM.

In my opinion, the French managers move was just as instrumental in the momentum switch.

I'm not saying I'm defending Lloyd as a starter, but before we tack her to the wall, she played 122 minutes against Brasil and got two days rest, one of them a travel day. In the Brasil game, half of that was man down. In the France game, France had an extra player in the midfield until Pia went 4-5-1 after the substitution.

She did a he'll of a lot of running in the last 2 games. OT is no mystery to why that she was late to balls.

For F*ck's sake. You are the ultimate glass is half empty for anything USA.

If this was 1781 you would be complaining that the US was going to lose despite Cornwallis surrendering at Yorktown.

Would have had a point. I mean, Washington didn't even know much French. If he wanted to talk to Rochambeaux he needed Lafayette in the room.

I mean, how can you run a war like that?:p

She also had huge MLS assists the last two games.

She had way to many turnovers vs France, but I don't change a thing if I'm coaching.

But if she has a Ricardo Clark moment in the Final, Pia will get a Bob Bradley reaction....
