Would someone please explain the relationship between height, jumping and heading? I have a 6'4" CD with 16 jumping, but 7 heading. Conversely, I have a 5'5" striker with 10 jumping, but 18 heading. It seems to me that height/jumping factor in the chances to win the ball, while heading determines what the player can do with it, right? So my CD is okay, because I don't mind so much where he heads the ball (heading) so long as he wins the header (height/jumping)?
No, with that value he won't send the ball as accurately as he would like. Meaning that some of his interventions might be ridiculous. Also don't forget another important aspect when heading, and that is anticipation. So have this in your mind: jumping; heading; anticipation; tackling; positioning; strenght are what makes a great CD (and probably some other attributes depending how high is the defensive line, his partner, etc) . You can check it yourself when looking at world class CBs in the game, there is a pattern.
Well, I agree that best option would be to have world-class central defenders with 20's in every catagory, but in League 1 that doesn't happen very often. As I said, I'm not going to concern myself over where he sends the ball, as long as I'm sure that he actually wins the ball in the first place. So in the battle of tall jumper with poor heading vs. short earth-bound with phenomenal heading, who do you take? Thank you jcvf90 for your reply.
That is what I agreed with. As long as you only care about winning them, not so much about them being accurate you had it right originally.
Actually you should concern where he does send the ball, you have no idea how many blunders you're bond to see - take a risk and inevitably you will agree with me. Just have in mind to have a player that has over 13 or 14 in those 3 primal attributes...don't tell me is that hard to find one. I only mentioned the world class CBs so that you can understand that there's a reason why heading is so high and valued. And why the hell are you hypothetically opting for extremes? It's Ligue 1, not the belgian championship.
Actually it's League 1, as in npower League 1 of English football. And the stats I gave originally are not hypothetical, they are actual stats from the players on my team. I am playing Plymouth, so I have no money to bring in a 13-14 in all catagories CD, and I need to loan at least two wingers and a keeper, so if I don't have to loan a CD as well, that would be very nice. But thank you for your help and advice.
Decided to go a little bit different. Using the editor, I converted MLS to the U.S. Soccer League, a two division league with pro/rel featuring just U.S. teams. The Canadian teams went to the Canadian Soccer League. Both of these play a August to April season (not that this would be a great idea IRL, but it's fun in-game). The league ends in April because the CONCACAF Champions League now takes place all in May. 10 teams qualify, 2 each from MEX/USA/CAN (league champion plus cup winner), plus 4 Caribbean or Central American teams. 2 groups of 5 play each other once, group winners play in a neutral site final. For the top finishers in each league, I set up one-off "bowl" games on the days between CCL match days. It does qualify the right teams as best I can tell.
I just got this game. I'm playing as Lierse in Belgium. Anyway, when I set up the game, I put in too many leagues...I want to have a "career" so I activated Germany, France, England, Holland, and MLS (and Belgium.) The mistake I made was activating France 2, and all the way down to League 2 in England. I'd like to chop France 2, and everything below the Championship in England. Is that possible in this version? The last one I bought was 2005!
I don't think you can chop the leagues, but you can change the detail level in the "Game Status" menu. That should speed up the game.
You can't add or remove leagues after you've started a game. You'll have to start a new game and change the setting under the Lowest Active League header. By the way, there is a website devoted to Football Manager for American and Canadian players: FM North America. It's worth checking out for fun extras that make the game much more interesting.
Someone said you could have the Germany NT by removing a file. Can you do that for the Japan NT as well? If so what file is it.
http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/51237/t1591510-guide-how-to-get-real-german-japanese-teams/ (you'll have to do it from the 11.3 folder if that's the one you're using)
Thinking of starting a new game, but I have no idea who to manage. My preferred way to play is to find a sleeping giant (for example, Napoli) and give them the extra push that they need to reach their potential, but such clubs are becoming fewer and more far between these days. I don't know who really fits that profile anymore - perhaps Leeds?
Try Real Sociedad. I recently went 8 seasons with them. (8 seasons). Won La Liga 3 times (3 of the last 4) got to the UCL final twice, lost them both. If you develop Griezzmann you will have a world class player! The first few years you can take two routes, either sign young players and struggle to survive, but eventually see them mature, or just live off free agents. The board is stingy at first. Betis and Depor are also good alternatives.
I've just finished my first season with Brindisi in serie C2/C. It is nice because the have a fairly large transfer budget and also a good wage amount. I just got them promoted to serie C1. If you look for more experienced players you can really destroy the opposition. I also got matteo Borlini who scored like 20 goals for me last season. Brindisi seem like a good team that can be promoted quickly so you can get up to serie A in no time.
I have the FM2011 demo and now I'm thinking of buying the game. Can you edit the attributes of the board to increase their patience? I've always had a problem with FM of getting fired too quickly, either because I'm just not very good or because the AI cheats--even after you meet the board's expectations, you wind up getting fired. I have always wanted FM to include a "can't get fired" option. Such an option is, in my opinion, an essential part of the sports management sim. I don't want to manage some top-flight team. I want to manage the team I support, period. And if I do badly and don't get promoted, so what? It's a game. It's something to make me feel better after a hard day at work. I buy management sims like OOTP Baseball and Fast Break Fasketball largely because they have a "can't get fired" option. While I hate the press conferences and 3D graphics of FM2011, I love the statistical depth of the game. So, is it editable? Is it fun?
Where can I find Football Manager 2011? I have never played this soccer game before and I want to try it out. Would it be possible to put Football Manger 2011 on my soccer games website?
