I like rsl alot. They play great as a team and are fun to watch, plus Alvarez is a beast.

But I don't see them beating Monterrey. Monterrey is too big and has too much class to lose this final. They've come up big in too many big games to lose to rsl. Chupete Suazo is all heart baby. I put all of my faith in that dude. He just flat out doesn't know how to lose.

    And rsl without Beckermen????...

After we win me and the homies are going to be eating cabrito, drinking carta blanca, and jamming cumbias rebajadas all night long baby!!!

Good luck to both teams. Why do I feel an MLS club is going to finally win this thing? :(

Guys, I just wanna say congratulations on winning the title, and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for beating Real Salt Lake on their home turf. You guys are awesome. Enjoy the CWC.

Man!! I swear stress sucks. I did NOT want to go to bed upset about not getting that trophy. Ugly, not too flashy, took some major aguante, but effective. RSL brought it, RESPECT! Suazo? Club freakin legend!!

Great effort by the team tonight! I'm glad the winning goal was so well worked--a classic Monterrey style goal. Whatever happens this weekend, it's still a good season; but let's win this weekend too!

Con madre!!!!!!!!! Great game, great win!!!!

Monterrey's defense was in absolute beast mode shutting down rsl's relentless attack. Other than the goal we scored, our offense was somewhat quiet tonight, but the defense... Holy $hit our defense was on another level. I don't know if I ever had so much fun watching a team's defense before. I guess they were trying to make up for being the reason we didn't get the win at the Tec.

Hopefully the boys got some gas left in the tank to put up a good fight in omnilife this weekend. That's going to be tough, we'll see what happens.

Congrats gentlemen. You showed that the difference in class between the two leagues is that little something special that players like Suazo bring to the table. Well fought by RSL but in the end you finished a well worked quality chance and RSL didn't.

Good luck in Japan. Bring some hardware back.

Congratulations, Monterrey. Suazo is the best forward to ever play at Rio Tinto. Los Rayados are fun to watch when they are clicking. An impressive team.

Good luck to you at the CWC.

That's hilarious, really. Last week you could have said the same thing about MLS, RSL and Javier Morales. Frankly, in this tournament RSL demonstrated it can play the top FMF teams in meaningful competition and expect to win. The club and organization has clearly established itself as a regional power.

I wonder if RBNY will ever be able to say that---even with it's expensive, gaudy payroll.

WTF are you talking about? The one thing MLS lacks is great players in their prime years with that extra quality about their game. How can you argue that? You can't. The only guy we have in that area is Landon Donovan.

Yes, MLS can compete with FMF teams. No shit Dr. Obvious. What's next on your list of the amazingly well known?

I thought both teams played relatively equal over both legs. The difference is that Monterrey created and finished one more quality chance than RSL. What is there to argue here?

I'm not bagging on RSL. I want to pummel you guys when you come to our house, but was rooting for you in this tournament.

    Good gravy. Lighten up Francis.

Amazing. You make a public comment. I place it in a valid context, and demonstrate that your statement is perception only...and you can only respond with vulgarity filled knee-jerk attacks. Enjoy your RBBS.

Maybe you should re-read the post. It was complimentary towards RSL. Sheesh.

By the way, congrats the Red Stripes. Fun final.

After the author's vitriol and your post, I reviewed the original to see if I off the mark. Here's what it says, in a nutshell: "RSL fought hard but lacks class (and so does MLS) because a special Monterrey guy scored a special goal". All I did in response was point out that he could have posted the same thing in reverse about the first leg....but didn't. I cannot interpret the post as a compliment.

The bald caricature is Suazo. The guy up top is the coach. The guy wearing the cowboy hat is the icon for Los Rayados. Of course, I could be completely wrong.

    Pretty much

The guy with the hat is supposed to be Eulalio Gonzalez, a monterrey actor from the 60's

He's pretty much a stereotype of people from northern Mexico

The pic is a CD cover

The tiles of the songs are long live the north, Vce eyes, for cigars to Japan, the chupetazo..
