Pissed off Galaxy fan is all that I can come up with.

Of course, my overworked sarcasm meter hasn't functioned in a day or so. Could be a joke. :)

    My guess is sarcasm.

Two 2's from Kicker = overrate Edson.
One 5 from Kicker = underrate Edson.

Score a goal and win the next match and it will be like the last match never even happened... even though I was witness to it!

Is this still the current Buddle thread? I must have missed the new one.

Yikes, the Igwe at FCI was higher on the list.

Anyway, a start and subbed off at '62. Didn't see it, but was hoping for some info. FCI won 2-1, both goals coming while Edson was on the pitch.

First goal was off a corner one of the center halve's put it in... the second was a sweet cross by Cuiby over Edson's head to Leitl who put it away on a sweet first touch...

Overall Edson wasn't invisible but it seems like his teammates never want to put the ball on the ground to him it's always in the air... he had 2 headers that both went just a foot past the post and made one or two nice defensive plays.

Either way if they keep winning like this he'll keep starting. He didn't look exhausted at the end but I'm guessing it was a tactical switch more than anything else.

Aside from his two close headers and the "world class" swing & a miss I thought Buddle was pretty anonymous for most of the hour which he played. It wasn't a bad performance, but it wasn't very good either. But you are correct - the fact that they played well and got the win with him on the field, even if he wasn't directly involved in either goal, should hopefully be enough for him to maintain his starting spot. The guy who replaced him was more active and generally involved, but also had a couple oops moments as well.

The other forward Leitl is definitely the heartbeat of the team. He seems to be one of these lower-league warriors who has had a really good career below the Bundesliga, but never was able to cut it at the top. Their other big winter arrival Caiuby is also looking very good. I think the team has a very good chance at avoiding relegation if the last couple weeks are any indication of the level where they can consistently play.

For those, who watched the game closely - is he still having problems reading the game or is his touch a bit too suspect?

He had 25 (Leitl had 49) touches on the ball and only 54% of his passes completed (Leitl had 83%).

It is a bit unfair to compare Buddles stats with Leitls, cause Leitl is on fire right now. He has scored 5 goals in the 8 games that have been played after the winter break and set up two more. Ingolstadt has scored just 10 goals in those 8 games and Leitl was involved in 7 of them. If Ingolstadt somehow manages to avoid relegation then they will have to thank Leitl for their survival. One could say that he is playing the role that some people envisioned for Buddle - the Saviour. But in contrast to some other posters I´m not saying that Leitl is head and shoulders above his teammates or the 2. Bundesliga in general;)

Kind of a random post, and I'm not being a negative nelly. I hope that Edson does well in Europe and latches on with a bigger club.

That being said, I had dinner with some buddies of mine a couple weeks ago, one who works in media relations with the Galaxy. I asked him what the over under was on Buddle returning to MLS this summer.

His words - "There's a reason we didn't give any of the rookies Edson's number."

Edson does indeed have an out clause in his contract that lets him come back to MLS should FCI get relegated and he fails to find another club.

Honestly up until Leitl's goal I thought he was rather poor for most of the first half... Cauiby was really the one that was creating most of the offense.

As for Buddle I think the problem from what I can tell is he just hasn't found that person to link with yet... Leitl sort of ignored him for most of the first half and Cauiby never played a ball to him... the only time he got any service was from the fullbacks playing long ball with him.

His read doesn't seem to be off and he really didn't get enough touches for me to say that was the issue... atm it looks like either the team is starting to lose confidence in him or chemistry may still be an issue. Hard to tell at this point because other than set pieces he really hasn't involved himself a whole lot in the attack the last several games.

Not that I disagree with the trend but to be fair I don't believe Buddle's sub appearance where he scored was rated. I believe that was after the 2nd 5 rating.

83% is a high passing percentage for a forward.

    Well, he's more of a playmaker/withdrawn type.

But Buddle's 54% is on the very low end.

Well, it's probably good for Ingolstadt.

I don't know if I'm alone with this thought, but I want Ingolstadt to get relegated so Buddle can find a new team where he can actually get service and succeed.

His team has been playing well since they got him. They had 12 points when he joined and looked very likely to go down, but have 19 points since and are out of the relegation zone and have a good shot at staying up. He has been a part of that, though more for his hold up play than goals. If they get relegated, he likely hasn't made enough of an impression to stick in the 2 Bundesliga so he'd have to go down with them or go elsewhere.(probably elsewhere since I guess he'd be making a lot for that league)
