I bet Phil misses Austin now http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D11XOnQzj...1600/Screen+shot+2011-02-19+at+8.19.14+PM.png
As noted in the City thread, that was from a high school game, NOT Saturday night. Attendance for Saturday night was 3,500.
Couple questions, how many threads is this now? And are you ever going to bother saying where you got this picture from?
Couple questions, why are you trolling on this old forum, and why don't you run along? Clearly you defensive Orlandoans give more of a damn about this than anyone else who still comes around here (except, perhaps the OP). Let it go.
Why so touchy? Excuse me for asking eclipse02 a simple question like where he got a picture from and how many times he plans on making the same snarky thread.
Probably the best place of any to post this. Saturday night, FCD will be playing Orlando City, and FCD will stream the game. I'm torn about whether I care about the game or not. As an FCD fan, I care. And a fan of the former Aztex players, I care. But as a 'still Orlando/Phil ... well, not-quite-hater' I'm inclined to ignore it. Especially since it's preseason. Anyway. Curious about what others think.
Violet! That game isn't Saturday, it's tonight! It kicks off at 5 CT, and it'll be streamed on espn3.com (not sure about FCDallas.com). This is the "Disney Pro Soccer Classic", which also includes Toronto FC and the Houston Dynamo. Those latter two play tonight as well, as the 2nd game. There will be more games on espn3.com on Saturday, they're listed as "Consolation Game" at 5 CT and "Championship" at 7 CT. I'm not sure if there are other games in this thing, or what. That's all that's listed at ESPN/Disney's site: http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/pro/wdw-pro-soccer-classic/ So, not sure how they decide who plays the consolation and who plays the championship. Maybe tonights' can't be draws...? Nice up-to-date picture on that site, too. I think it will be weird at least, maybe even closer to heartbreaking, to see Jamie, Max, Miguel, etc. But I'll definitely watch, as you say, to see my FCD at least. Besides, I'll watch anything. Hell, I watched the Toluca-Monterrey CCL game last night. P.S. You almost missing this is reason #432 why you should be on Twitter.
Excuse me but can we go back to ridiculing the Orlando City trolls who spend time on our boards? Hijackers....
Hopefully, Austin will get a new team soon. I saw that the fans there are very passionate about supporting their team from watching Whitecaps matches last year and that passion is going to be missed in D2 this year.
How exactly am I trolling? People can't handle a little discussion on a message board; or holding someone accountable to further explain something they posted? If anyone is trolling its eclipse with his posting the same incorrect picture and thread in several different areas without responding to simple queries such as where an image he posted came from. In any case, I'm done. I agree with you there.
Enjoy those unbelievable attendances while they last, asshole. Because that's what they are: unbelievable. A brand-new team, with zero big name draw players, parachuting in a few months before first kick, in a medium-sized market with zero soccer history, playing in the third division, playing against teams like Dayton and PR United. And this? This is the team that's selling more tickets than long-established clubs across the country, in way bigger markets with much better competition? Selling more in their first two regular season home games than the highest they *ever* got in Austin, at a charity match against the Haitian national team? Either Rawlins and what's-his-face who paid for the move to Florida have discovered the Fountain of Fandom and they'll make a fricking mint selling their secrets across the U.S., or they're pumping up attendance numbers with boatlads of free tickets. Hell, what do I know, maybe that will work for them somehow. Maybe they'll pave their way right on up to MLS selling nachos and Powerade to those 7k crowds. Time will tell.
So far so good? Hardly. That's DECLINING attendance. Rawlins is probably already looking for an exit strategy. Using the handy trendline function in Excel I am able to mathematically predict that by 13th home game of the season your attendance will be ZERO. Muahahahahaha.
I love how the team has apparently only since leaving Austin discovered how to inflate attendance numbers. How very convenient for you. Yep, no soccer history whatsoever. Sure there was the Lions in the 80's and 90's and you know, hosting a World Cup, but that's hardly a historic event I guess. Time will tell indeed.
A PDL-level team that folded 16 years ago doesn't exactly make you Soccer City, USA. If it did, half the cities in the country would have that distinction. Thanks for confirmation that the numbers are inflated, appreciate that.
Never said it did, but claiming Orlando has zero history with the sport is frankly a really stupid thing to say. How many cities in the US have hosted a World Cup match again?
