One of the attractions of the USOC for me is the chance to see the "little" guys take down a MLS team. Im sure you BS greybeards all know the big game hunter has been Rochester, though I thought a complete list might be in order. Advanced apologies if this info is redundant.

Team # of wins v. MLS team
    Rochester Raging Rhinos 9
    Charleston Battery 8
    Seattle Sounders 5
    Minnesota Thunder 4
    Harrisburg City Islanders 3
    Richmond Kickers 2
    S.F. Bay Seals 2
    Wilmington Hammerheads 2
    Carolina Railhawks 1
    Chicago Sockers 1
    Chicago Stingers 1
    Connecticut Wolves 1
    Crystal Palace Baltimore 1
    Long Island Rough Riders 1
    Mid Michigan Bucks 1
    Milwaukee Rampage 1
    Nashville Metros 1
    Pittsburg Riverhounds 1
    Roma F.C. 1
    Seattle Sounders Select 1
    Staten Island Vipers 1

Team # of losses to D2/D3
    Colorado 6
    New York 6
    Chicago 5
    Kansas City 5
    Chivas 4
    Dallas 4
    New England 4
    DCU 3

I think the FIRE have lost to the battery 2 years in a row.

Well, they have lost to 2 USL-2 teams, 2 years in a row. Charleston in '10 and Wilmington in '09. What surprises me is the number of losses Chivas USA has against D2 sides in their short history. OK, not really that surprised, but they have had a tough time in all USOC competitions.

The Houston Dynamo technically only have one "loss" to a lower division side. The game in 2008 against Charleston was officially a draw since it was decided with Penalty Kicks.

Not sure how many other "losses" that would apply to.

Very good point, the FIRE did not lose last year, we were eliminated in PKs, Officially it counts as a draw.

At least one Columbus loss to Rochester was on PK's. Can't remember about the second one.

Richmond has at least 3 off the top of my head: Colorado in 2000 (might have been 01), DC in 2004, and LA in 2007

Lower-division teams in semis since 1996:

1996: Rochester Raging Rhinos [2] (beat Colorado 2-0, lost to DC in final 3-0)
1997: San Francisco Bay Seals [3] (lost to DC 2-1 in semis)
    1998: none
1999: Charleston Battery [2] (lost to Colorado 3-0 in semis), Rochester Raging Rhinos (beat Columbus 3-2, beat Colorado 2-0 in final)
    2000: none
    2001: none
    2002: none
    2003: none
2004: Charleston Battery [2] (lost to Chicago 1-0 in semis)
2005: Minnesota Thunder [2] (lost to Los Angeles 5-2 in semis)
    2006: none
2007: Seattle Sounders [2} (lost to FC Dallas 2-1 in semis), Carolina Railhawks [2} (lost to New England 2-1 in semis)
2008: Seattle Sounders [2} (lost to Charleston Battery 1-1 [5-4 PKs] in semis), Charleston Battery [2] (beat Seattle 1-1 [4-3 PKs] in semis, lost to DC 2-1 in final)
2009: Rochester Rhinos [2] (lost to DC 2-1 in semis)
    2010: none

not really surprising that Rochester and Charleston would be the most successful, they've generally been among the better-run D2 teams. Minnesota's run in 2005 saw them defeat Salt Lake, Colorado, and Kansas City. Seattle Sounders v 2.0's only goal in the semis in 2008 was scored by Osvaldo Alonso (own goal), he of course has now become a key player for Seattle Sounders v 3.0.

    Ummm... Dallas Roma FC anyone?

2006: Dallas Roma FC [5] (beat Chivas USA 0-0 [4-2 PKs] in Third Round, lost to LA 0-2 in Fourth)

    EDIT:

Oh, my bad. I see you were only doing semis, I thought you were listing all upsets.

Add 1 more for Richmond. The Kickers beat the Crew in Columbus 2-1. Next up, SKC I believe.

not many people remember the Colorado game, even in Richmond. The only things I remember about it is completely embarrassed them 3-0, it was on my birthday and was played in a monsoon. Richmond went out to San Jose the next round, played tough but lcame up short, however San Jose liked one of our forwards, alot and tried to sign him on the spot, we told them wait until next season. It was some guy named DeRosario. I wonder how he's doing.

I remember that 2000 game. It was a crazy road trip. Started with the 45 minute 0-0 KC/DC game at RFK where they couldn't get the lights on, then included the big USA 4-0 win over Mexico (actually Pumas with a few guest players) US Cup game at Giants Stadium, a trip to the baseball and soccer halls of fame, then the 2+ hour lightning delayed Richmond/Colorado Open Cup game.

I remember yelling up to the press box to tell them that they should probably ask the fans to get off of the metal bleachers during the lightning delay.

I will always remember the Chivas 3-2 a.e.t win over the Charlotte Eagles in 2005. One of the most riveting games I've ever seen. Charlotte's goalkeeper Chris McClellan had one of the greatest games I've ever seen. Amongst his 19 saves were a good 11 or so where he was laid out horizontally in the air. He surrendered the losing goal in stoppage time at the end of extra time.

I still have, and can almost fit into, his '99 Kickers jersey. and I still can't believe I got it for $45 because nobody knew who he was back then.

For all the history that the Bucks have in this tournament, they only have 2 wins over MLS teams?
