I don't mean to start a fight, but it seems Houllier has been unfair (and irrational) in his treatment of both Lichaj and Guzan. The few times I've seen Lichaj play he's shown an exceptional work rate. Yet Hou called him to the carpet after his last match as if he raped his daughter or something. And Guzan gets shipped out on loan and Hou brings in another French (I think) keeper. I realize people will say "no way" since his boss is American and he just brought in M. Bradley. Please correct me if I'm all wet.
I admit, it was a stretch, but I hoped people would at least start a discussion. It's a somewhat moribund forum.
I just think his treatment of lichaj was very unfair but I like how he loaned him to Leeds. Same goes with guzan. Also I think we will see Bradley starting soon. If houllier was anti-american then he wouldn't have gone for Bradley. I still don't like houllier though. I don't know if he is aware of a word called tactics.
Yeah, and it looks like Lichaj wants to stay there after his loan is done. I think he sees the writing on the wall at Villa. I really don't understand what people see in him. He should return to Clairefontaine, IMO.
Houllier did very well for us in the transfer window. Even with all these expensive purchases, he actually lessoned wages around the club. He got rid of some dead weight and got us a younger team. I really love what he did in january but when it comes to coaching, he is pretty bad. Although I dont blame him for all those loses in the beginning considering how injuries we had. Just think about this, if Houllier just won us two more of those games from the beginning of the season then we'd be in 8th and one point out of a europa league spot.
How involved do you think Gary McAllister is in the day-to-day training? I enjoyed watching GM during his time at Leeds, Coventry and Liverpool. I hope he can inspire the Villa squad to replicate some of the same grit and determination he had when he was still mucking about.
I'd rather GH as manager than Friedel as keeper. At least GH has more wins that BF has clean sheets this season. I'm not saying that a manager's win and a keeper's clean sheets are apples-to-apples, but results speak volumes and look, stepping out of the goal to face an attacker only works when you get to the ball first.
Right... You take GH, and I'll take BF. WT??? You're as daft as a brush. Your last name isn't Gascoigne, is it? You just did. Being put in danger repeatedly by a shite defense means a keeper has to gamble a bit, wouldn't you agree? So, you'd prefer Robert Green in goal then?
Bradley hasn't shown to be good enough, and we haven't been in the position to give him more chances. Lichaj isn't good enough yet and the experience of playing on loan every week is better then him sitting on the bench. Guzan isn't better then Friedel so he was sent on loan to get experience rather then sit on the bench doing nothing. Nothing wrong here...
