Re: Asian Cup 2011 what about agony of 2004, 2000, 1996, and on and on... am I excited? Yes. Do I want to be? Hell no... I feel like a battered woman, I keep returning to my spouse despite knowing he's going to kick the shit out of me and break my heart...I have faith in Gao and a lot of these young players are really talented, so there are definitely reasons to be interested, at the same time, a number of the friendlies show this team isn't as advanced in its development as we were thinking back in early-mid 2010 and there are some really big question marks. With the group we're in, getting out of the group stage is a must, but anything after that is a bonus. I'm clueless about what to expect from this team, and I think everyone else is too. I could easily (and realistically) see this side failing to get out of the group stage, its also easy (and realistic) to imagine them going on a good run and ending up in the finals.
Re: Asian Cup 2011 ok i thought of a betting game for asian cup that would benefit the community: if china team advanced from group stage i will donate $20 CAD if china team advanced from quarterfinal i will donate $40 CAD if china team advanced from semi-final i will donate $60 CAD if china team won 4th place $70 CAD 3rd place $80 CAD 2nd place $90 CAD champion $100 CAD the donation will go to a choice of charity you guys choose i personally would choose donation charity that offers me a receipt that i could scan or those see-through box where i could take photo pf (ronald mcdonald charity fund) i am gonna join you guys wanna join too?
Re: Asian Cup 2011 Nice man that is a great idea! I'd definitely be in on this. At the very least we can hope that China progresses far in the AC for a good cause
Re: Asian Cup 2011 argh fcuk. china team needs his dribbling and accurate shot. let's hope hao junmin would have his match fitness ready and prepare to take feng renliang's spot. edit: other players that are on the injury borderline list are jiang ning and han peng.
Re: Asian Cup 2011 I am cautiously excited. Realistically, getting 4 points from Kuwait and Uzbekistan is achievable. In some situations 4 points is enough to advance. In 1996 China made it on goal difference with 3 points. On the other hand a team can fail to make the cut even on 6 points. Seven points will guarantee the knockout round but I will not dare to dream of it. I expect Qatar to be very strong with home advantage and the need to make a good impression ahead of 2022.
Re: Asian Cup 2011 Losing Feng is bad news, most definitely, but realistically I'd have been somewhat surprised if he was used as a starter. He's definitely talented, but we do have a few other options in midfield. IF Han Peng can't play, that makes things a lot worse, he is our first choice striker and the drop off from him to Gao Lin or whoever 2nd choice is going to be is massive.
Re: Asian Cup 2011 China NT 1-0 Guangdong Sunray Cave Gao Lin is the scorer. Re: Asian Cup 2011 nope, just the same old knee injury showing up again. not a new injury. hes back with Shenhua and doing light training.
Re: Asian Cup 2011 not sure if you could call him that, Gao (the coach) has experimented with a variety of players (including Hao) as the lone striker specifically because he has little confidence in Gao. Han Peng was in form this season and has done a good job recently when brought back into the squad and word out of the NT camp was that Han was most likely the 1st choice going into the Cup. In other news, I really really hate Jisung Park...that is all...
Re: Asian Cup 2011 another blow to national team han peng = injured. final fantasy mode: zhang chengdong anyone?
