Its just hard to be disappointed when you know what to expect, given the recent performances that does not indicate that much improvement.
Im not disappointed with the result and match itself, as much as I am with the current state of our football with major problems such as lack in a creative playmaker, defence issues, not to mention stamina/fitness problems. This issue is rooted in our national league at club level. So what can we expect from our national team? Last week we lost against KUWAIT with one of the worst performances that I had the unfortunate to witness, but our performaces against the other teams were not even that good either. Decent at best.
Brazil is a world class team (and they did not even give 100 % in this match, from my book). Iran is simply NOT. This is the reality.

But its of course regrettable that Iran played such a ugly game passing the ball among themselves in the backline. As if they were trying to keep the score down, or just lacked options and creativity. But the result does not bother me. Its a friendly match. If there is something to be gained and can be learned from this exhibition then hurray. The question is WILL we adress our issues that so increasingly more became evident after WAFF and this friendly?
    Unfortunately I dont think so.

    Iranians,

You have nothing to be ashamed of. You guys should have had that first goal and your goalkeeper did a good job against my team's strikers who shot from nearly point-blank range.

Also, a few of you entered the Brazil NT forum recently and were greeted with racist, ignorant, and hateful posts by a Brazilian who made false accusations against your country. I immediately wrote back to him refuting his lies, and the moderators subsequently deleted those posts.

Those of you who saw those posts, please know that there are people out there who are aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not a country governed by madmen; who know that by and large the people of Iran are normal, peace-loving individuals; who know that Iran has not waged aggressive war since the 1740s (unlike certain other countries who have launched wars of aggression in recent years); that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is no Hitler, and that he is not even the leader of your country (that authority belongs to his Supreme Jurisprudence Ayatollah Ali Khamenei); and that if there are some in your country who are resentful of the United States government, it is because once upon a time previous American presidents supported the Shah, and that the Shah's SAVAK secret police wreaked havoc upon some of your people.

And perhaps of great importance, please know that there ARE people out there who are very well aware that Ahmadinejad never called for the destruction of Israel. Ahmadinejad only called for the Zionist regime which illegally occupies Palestinian lands to be "erased from the pages of time." Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime was erased; the Soviet Union's iron grasp on non-Russian peoples was erased; the Mongol Empire, the Roman Empire, and European colonial rule over other people were also all erased. This does not equate wholesale extermination, as some mistaken interpret Ahmadinejad's words.

I have nothing against the people of Iran. I am not a Muslim, but that does not mean Brazil and Iran should not and cannot be on good terms, whether in soccer or in politics.

Best wishes in the next Asian football tournaments. :)

Wow thanks so much brother. It doesn't take too much to see through the filth and propaganda against Iran and most Iranians do realize that the propaganda campaign against Iran doesn't have too many buyers around the world outside of Israel and only small parts of the US.

Everything I've seen and heard from Brazil has been nothing but extraordinary. If only Brazil were the dominant force in the world we'd all be living in a more peaceful world. Fortunately your country is on the rise economically, militarily, and politically if I'm not mistaken. I definitely plan to visit Brazil in 2014.

We better be there this time around. The trip just isn't complete if Iran isn't there.

    Thank you man!
Even though I very much dislike this regime (and im not at all suggestin that you do) I realise that there is a propaganda war against Iran, and so many media lies from the western/US media based on its ridiculous bias for Israel, and their endless desire to meddle in iranian affairs (dating back several decades prior to the revolution). I just hope people will realise and stand up to all the injustices taking place in the world (including those in Iran)
I agree with everything you said.

And thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully we can have another friendly exhibition some day.
    Btw are you brazilian? :)

Yes, I'm Brazilian. I've lived in the US for quite some time now, but I am Brazilian.

It's too bad so many are so easily deceived and that they think your president is another Hitler. However, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hasn't launched any wars lately. ;)

I hope Iran is in Brazil in 2014. :)

Thanks Century Best. I hope to see Iran at the WC in Brazil. I think we have the talent but I don't think we have the organization. There is far too much corruption.

I don't have an anti-Israeli attitude though. I actually think Israel would be a strategic asset for Iran and under a democratic rule, I think discussion of what would be in Iran's interests in the region re: foreign policy would take place. Now, if they decide that Israel is a strategic enemy, then okay. But I don't think that's what will happen.

It's too bad so many people have their head so deep in their ass that they often come up with posts like yours.

You have nothing to be ashamed of.
