Andy Caesar may have dual citizenship, but I believe he is opting to play with the Panamanian national system. If I am not mistaken he was being called for the U-21 side in Panama. Born in Panama, but lived most of his life in San Antonio, TX - U. of Incarnate Word for two years until now...

In that case, it seems like a pretty good deal.

What level of courses are you taking? Is it like prep school, college, etc.?

IASA are still undefeated in league play with 1 victory and 2 ties and are 4th in the standings.

Yanks Stray-Gunderson, Spivak, Roane and Caesar have all recently played for semi-pro side Eccleshill as well.

CJ Lyle may be the 1st to parlay his time at IASA into a pro contract. He has already played with a Man City youth team, as posted above, and has caught the attention of coaches with "connections across the professional football spectrum".

This Karl Martens is now playing in the 6th tier of English football. Not bad...

Which levels are paid in England? Which ones are considered pro and semi-pro?

Pretty much every level I'd say above Sunday League is paid something. Now it could something like $20-$50 per game or per week when you get really low like around the 9th division.

The 6th division, aka Blue Square North and South, is semi-pro for the most part. There may be 1-2 fully pro teams. but its rare. The level above that Blue Sqaure Premier is pretty much all pro now, but if a team from the Premier gets promoted to League Two they will automatically turn pro.

You won't be able to live off a 6th division wage alone. At semi-pro level your only training 2-3 times a week maximum. Players have real jobs outside of the game.

This is his website he is canadian/german http://karl-martens.com/

I checked football manager for a ballpark salary range. I know its a video game but its close to accurate from what I can see. Looking at between 2-10K a year maybe more depending on who the players is, older more established players seem to be paid more.

So just over $230 when you convert it. Also to note he is German so it enables him to play without any red tape.

I know the other kids get visas though somehow to play.

FYI the team he will play for were promoted this season.

~12K is not bad in the 6th tier of English football. He'll be getting some good looks, he'll be still attending school with this International Academic & Soccer Academy, and getting some nice spending / saving money.

So he's paying to attend a school that has helped him find a team to pay him to play soccer?

The IASA boys took out Hull's academy/reserve squad 3-0. A non-Yank scored all three and has been taken on loan by Carlisle as there were scouts watching the match. From the report:

” I think we surprised a few people today with the ability of the IASA players; I know there were a few interested parties watching and only good things can come from the experience for the players."

Several Americans are mentioned in the match report as having played well.

They play another of these exhibition matches against Leeds in a couple weeks.

Everton will be sending a scout to watch some of the IASA boys in action.

Also 3 unnamed players are currently "in negotiations" with professional teams, one of those teams is at League level. Hopefully we will have a new YA or two going pro out of this group.

The IASA team won their last match and remains in first place in their league.

Not a yank but one of the students who is a Bermuda international has been given an extended trial with Carlisle. He recently scored 5 goals in one game for the UK Richmond team.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/carlisle_united/9232086.stm

The team also beat York and Hull City youth teams 3-1, and 3-0 respectively. A few yanks got on the score sheet. http://www.internationalasa.com/headlines.php?newsid=251

Another article says they are planning a trip to Scotland and possibly Norway. A unnamed Norweign club is interested in creating an affiliation with the school.

At this rate I doubt most of the kids will stay past the first year. For the kids who aren't eligible for wp's I guess this is where the links come in (Norway).

Obviously stuff like this is nothing new (RRFC MONTEGNEE) but it's a lot to spend money wise for only a year or so. I believe tuition to the university is around 30,000 pounds a year maybe a little less.

Your right it seems they've fixed the error now on the iasa website.

Looks like Guiseley AFC is in Leeds so I guess the guys would still be able to attend the university. I'm sure Guiseley is only semi-pro/part time so it would be possible. I'm just saying because the university tuition is expensive and it would be a waste IMO not to at least see the year out.

    Couple more Americans join IASA:

Joining the squad are two additional students, Christian Eissele from Florida and Sean Galletta from California, who will be attending the academy after being scouted and recommended by Peter Anderson regional scout in Orlando and Paul Bayly, Head Scout in the San Francisco region. Both come as transfers students from division one programs in the USA as they want to play full time on a year round basis and continue their development.

    A few odds and ends:

Some of the players will be on a British Soap Opera called "Emmerdale".

The IASA lads will get to play a friendly vs Villarreal in Barcelona and one in Scotland against Motherwell.

Newcomer Christian Eissele got a bit of a trial with Carlisle, playing in a match with reserve players against Celtic.

A few more Americans have joined the program - Joe Curti and Jackson Patillo from Missouri and Kris Cooney from Virginia.

The IASA team (Richmond) are one win away from promotion.

On a completely unrelated not: I just wanted to mention that I think it is a very bold move by Nahki Wells to change his name to Napkin. :p

The RIASA squad also returned from Wembley stadium after watching Carlisle United lifts the Johnston’s Paint Trophy Cup – former student Napkin Wells is a player at Carlisle and the RIASA players went down to support him and Carlisle who came away 1-0 winners over Brentford FC.
