screw alvez. he isn't even starting for brazil. melo had a bad club year but that doesn't matter. melo starts for brazil, alves doesn't. i'm not gonna lie he is the one barca player that really bothers me. he is a dirty player and dives all the time. he is also complaining to the ref through out a whole match. he is a great player but i really hate him and will be hopefully of seeing brazil lose as soon as possible

besides, i think argentina has better players than barca in certain positions. remember at the end of the barca season, pedro and bojan were starting over ibra and henry and messi still scored crazy goals. iniesta was out all the time and i believe di maria will be better than iniesta.

    tevez > pedro
    higuain > bojan
    di maria > keita/toure
    mascherano > busquets

I think anyone who says that Messi has to carry this team to a championship is talking out of their ass and is ignorant about our team. But that's just me :).

    Yeah, that's a worry.

There was an interview with Signorini in El Grafico a couple of months ago, in which he said something similar, but about all the players in general, not just Messi. He said -I am paraphrasing because I read the article but don't have it with me- that with the long demanding seasons the players would arrive fatigued physically and mentally so his main concern and challenge was to see in which shape they arrived and to help them rest and relax so they could be as ready as possible for when the WC arrived.

Hopefully with his new comment about Messi he's just following up on the same theme, rather than commenting more specifically on finding Messi in worse shape than he expected.

Alves along with his fellow players are trying to bait Maradona and Argentina. They know Diego has a big mouth and they want to use that against him. Dunga is a bilardista!

Nigeria also has joined into the give and go. Today they said that Argentina has a weak defense and that they going to go out and attack us.

To be honest, I hope that they do, because if they do SE COME CUATRO!!!

Nigeria is going to get spanked, they are not the team they once were, neither are the Greek and South Korea have a fairly weak team coming to this Copa too.
If Nigeria wants to open up the game they will get burned early .

Im not sure about Messi carrying this team to glory when there is Di Maria and Higuain who are pretty much focal points of our offense!

This is why leaving out Cambiasso and Zanetti, while idiotic, may still turn out to be a masterstroke.

I have always suspected the team that wins is the one with elite players that did not have long seasons.

I think that all 3 will start. For god's sake, messi-tevez pair has been tested so many times and failed in the past.

True, that is why Otamendi is getting yanked from the back and having Tevez-Higuain and Messi together is a good solution.

I think it is a good formation. But, tevez will have to do a lot of running.Tevez should help jonas defensively by pressuring nigeria's left back( taiwo i think )and not letting him join the nigerian left winger in attack.

higuain is going to start. just because he praises tevez does not mean higuain is out. higuain has been lights out in camp. the line up has been announced pretty much: romero; heinze, samuel, demichelis; di maria, mascherano, veron, jonas; messi, tevez, higuain

Tevez will be be up with Pipita, Messi will be a lot closer to Jonas. See this is the thing, do we slot Jonas in the back and make it 4 and leave Masche alone covering the MF, or just leave 3 in the back and let Jonas help push forward and cover back? This 3 man attack of Tevez,Higuain,Messi I believe will only be for a couple games though. What I would like to see would put Jonas in the back, have Maxi take his spot and pull Tevez out. So our attackers would only be Messi,Higuain and Di Maria and time to time have Maxi coming up.
