I think that the food subtopic is always a good thing. I hope that all feel the same way. It's a minor way to have a little argentinismo during the world cup.

As far as the Pre Match thread. I wanted to suggest using this very same thread as a catch all. It might not "classify our discussions" as well as a prematch thread but we fly by the cuff many times. Also it helps to concentrate conversation in one place and not have to fly around chasing a million threads.

Question: How have of you still put money under your plates when eating Gnocchis on the 29th?

My answer: MEEEEEEE I'm still like a little kid when it comes to this!

From the news conference today, it seems that Tevez will be a starter. The reports coming out of training camp all have Tevez in SUPER form.

I've always liked Tevez, he just seems like a nice guy, grateful and humble. I always wanted Tevez to find in Messi a partner, to become an indominable force up top for the seleccion. I'm still convinced that this is can happen.

Nigeria is going to be a final all on its own. They are looking for revenge and after 2005 and 2008, many on the Nigerian NT want some pay back. We need to protect Messi and hope he isn't injured.

They never played together behind a true center forward either one was used as a center forward or both as strikers

So this might actually serve both well since the main target will be Higuain and Tevez/Messi will put so much pressure on the other team's defense not to mention Di Maria is also there.

I think that Tevez and Messi can switch in and out of "media punta" position and cause havoc to any defense. I just hope that this is the case and we can count on Higuain as being our target/9.

I am not sure about this formation, never liked it anyway. I don't think we have the right players for it to work. Heinze and Demichelis aren't fast players and Samuel is not precisely fleet-footed. Don't get me wrong, I am confident overall but I would rather stick to what's worked so far. If that means benching Tevez, so be it. And you all know how much I rate Tevez.

It's certainly unpredictable. If we score early on, it could be another spanking as with S&M. If the match is closely contested, it's a toss. If they get the upper hand, God help us all.

you are right- the safe thing to do is to stick with the 4-4-2 and bring tevez in at half time if we havent scored, but i like that we are going for it. this nigeria side lacks confidence. they were woeful in the african cup of nations and now they have a new coach who has had almost no time to work with his players.

if we score early, like the first 20 minutes, we will run away and win by 3 or 4. the longer it stays scoreless the more nervous we will all get but we gotta keep faith. i like that we are going to attack. a lot of us have been waiting a long time to see messi and tevez together with a "9"

i am so excited to see this new line up work, although i know i'll be so nervous before the game kicks off

ClementeRod, Otemandi, Samual and Garce are the four faster defenders. I don't see why we have to play Jonas out of position since Burdisso also makes a fine candidate.

If memory served right, when we played Ivory Coast, we were hurting even when up by 2 goals because Pekerman played majority of the match with a wing back (till he put Lucho in and made sorin not to attack).

Is also to my understanding is that Aguero is the dedicated fresh legs.

This is an easy tie if we put up a good defense. Messi just need to pull the trigger from on top of the box a little more. Also, as much as I don't like Milito, he will be more effective on set plays and we might get a lot of corners.

Look at it this way, Jonas is going to be in the starting lineup either way... and id wayy rather see him at right back where he will slot in nicely because of his defensive qualities and AT TIMES can attack. I think he should only be put in the midfield when we play a team like Brasil or Germany or Italy who can counter good, but I think having Tevez in the starting xi is great and would not complain about it

Strong words from Romero. I'm liking this kid more and more each day. Seems like Argentina has finally found their Keeper since the departure of Goyco.

For those who don't read spanish:

Interviewer: You don't seem very nervous as a keeper
Romero: Inside the goal (net) is my family. I have to defend them, no ball cann hit them.
