I saw the game between Barcelona and Villareal. Barcelona beat Villareal 4-1; two goals from Messi. But what I will remember from this game is Bojan's goal; he SCHOOLED GONZALO!! Schooled him. I know that some of us get overboard with Gonzalo as a possible NT defender, but everytime I watch him I am not impressed. Not impressed.

Quality read. Even though it is a couple months old but not much has changed. He is a very solid player, now is he going to go to the WC? I am not so sure. Gago has picked up his game and has not been so bad. So Diego may take him(Gago). Diego told Gago a few months ago that only way you could really get a chance is that you start playing for your club. At the time he was hardly ever starting but last month and a half he has been a starter. Would I take Gago or Banega? If you asked me a 3 months ago I would say this is not even a debate. Even now I would take Banega without blinking an eye, but again Gago has looked pretty solid. Good balls, holding the MF. I would be a bit bitter if Banega does not go, but would of been even more upset if Gago had not picked up his game and was still taken to the WC. I like this quote, even though it is from Marca, this is how they describe Banega.

""Banega," said Marca, "robs like an Italian, shoots like a German, and plays like the Argentinian he is.""

I read that a while ago too, that's when I really started to follow him. It'll be a true dissapoinment if he doesn't get called up, he's been in excellent consistent form this season for Valencia and made a real name for himself. Until June 1st ill be hoping for him to get called up if not before.

To be fair to Gonzalo he has had some really serious injuries to his knees and he has lot a yard of pace which is why Bojan was so easily able to outpace him. It's shame because a few years ago he really looked a prospect.

I was going to say the same thing. That injury really was bad and took him from being on the verge of one of the worlds better defenders to cannon fodder imo.

Yeah but last season he was excellent. I thought he was one of the best defenders in La Liga that year. This season he's been horrible for whatever reason.

Gago and Higuaín are linked with Manchester City, meanwhile Ansaldi is linked with Barcelona...

Sebastian Bertoglio made his CL debut on the 50 minute mark in Kiev's 3-0 win over Genk.

Played reasonably well some nice passes and took up good positions around the box but the directness of some of Kiev's play and his size may affect him.

He won the 2006 award from a prestigious Italian sport's daily for best young defender in Europe.

He has had two horrific injuries and last season he was sometimes very good and other times very poor.

It's shame as he was pencilled in to suceed Ayala. Our other defenders have also had some nasty injuries.

Does anyone know why Sergio Romero is not playing for AZ?

Romero played today, and had a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

Tevez had a nice game for City, with a nice goal and an assist. Zabaleta also played well.

Zanetti was sent to the hospital due to chess pain after Inter's game. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Maybe he was injured, because he wasn't even on the bench.

    Saludos.

Wanted to stop by and wish everyone well for this holiday season. Now, I also had a few questions re: Juan Manuel "Chocho" Llop, the new coach of my team in Chile--Stgo. Wanderers.

Now, his last job was as coach of Barcelona (Ecuador) and based on what I was able to gather he saved the team from relegation and furthermore, qualified them to this year's Sudamericana. He was, however, fired in Sept.

I wanted to know what your guys' opinion on him was, based on his work at Godoy Cruz, Banfield and Racing.

The facts that I know are that he got GC promoted to the first div., took Banfield all the way to 3rd place at one point, and saved Racing from relegation. I also read that while he was working at Racing, he received death threats? What's that all about?

Well, any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
