We shouldn't complain till the top 5 players on the team are all gone indefinitely. ;)

Not sure how you know that. We had one game with him and we looked pretty good, running up a 4-1 win.

Even then, we'd still be considered NNN's for not seeing the quality and value of a team full of drafted rookies and unknowns..wait ;)

No one know what this roster will play like if the roster gets healthy. Saying it's a marginal roster is an unjustifiable statement. Saying the current roster of healthy, available players is marginal is a reasonable statement.

Burpo has been adequate but I think Reis would have stopped at least few of the goals he's let in costing us points.

Our back four with Osei is better than with Barnes

Twellman, if healthy would likely have scored at least 3 or 4 of the chances Dube has blown.

With Joseph in the mix we have a reasonable chances of controlling the midfield against any team in the league.

Of the four above the only one whose return is uncertain is Twellman and the team says he is in training and progressing towards a return to action.

This isn't a bad roster. It's a depleted roster. Till all the pieces are in place it's impossible to truly judge if it will be a good/great roster.

I feel like an idiot, I frequent these boards every day. Recently the abbreviation KAD has become standard for Kool Aid Drinker, but I'm failing to get what NNN is. I keep reading it as Negative Nancy, but don't think that's right even though it technically does has 3 N's...

Your assertion doesn't even begin to pass the laugh test. It's understandable to adopt a position of being negative. It suggest that the team intends to have a depleted roster is not negative; it's absurd.

I love Revs fans. A couple of weeks ago, after the two wins, there were comments here about how Burpo's done a great job and there's no rush for Reis to come back since he gave up some weak goals last year. Now it's the opposite. Whatever works at the time I suppose.

Burpo has done well but I think Reis could have done better on at least two of the goals Burpo let in. Anyone who is content to stay with Burpo as a replacement for Reis is entitled to their opinion but I think their incorrect in their assessment of Burpo's ability.

    Actually I do.

I see Franchino as a guy who's had some problems, but has dealt with them and worked hard to make himself a better player and person.

He was always undersized and had a temper that really affected his play. It took a while, but he gradually worked on his composure to the point that it was no longer an issue.

As for the alcohol problems, he isn't the first or the last. The Fenway thing was embarrassing, but he dealt with it and moved on. Plenty of ballplayers drink like fish their whole careers.

I was never a big fan of Joey, but he was always good with the fans and his teammates and coaches had a LOT of respect for him - that counts for a lot in my book.
And what exactly *should* they do? This isn't a league with unlimited checkbooks, where if you lose a guy you can just go shopping for another. Besides, we have no idea if this is going to be a short-term thing or not.

As Nicol's been saying, the players they have will have to step up and fill the void.
That's exactly what I was going to say. Not to say we can/would do that against anyone, but with Joseph (even a very rusty one), suddenly an awful lot of things were clicking.

With a healthy Twellman, Joseph and Reis, I think this team is a title contender. Add 3 all-star caliber players to a team that is clearly in the middle of the pack and they can be as good as anyone.

    And when does this happen?

Bob, nothing against you, but I'm getting really sick the last two years of hearing "Well, when we're healthy..."

They do have two DP slots. That allows for some shopping. They just need to want to shop.

Transfer window is closed at the moment so being able to shop poses an issue as well.

They can shop all they want in preparation for the window. I'm sure that, even now, they are coming just "this close" (but not close enough) to secretly, and totally under the radar, not quite finding a DP.

Look, in general, I'd rather MLS have a higher cap than this DP rule. But, AFAIK, it is an option, just about the only option, they have to add top notch players this season.

Not disagreeing, but remember that the first chunk of each DP's salary (somewhere between 300 and 400K) does count against the cap. They should be doing this, but it's not as simple as it sounds.

It's not simple but it is an option. Plus, maybe these guys should earn their money. Don't they still have a bunch of allocation money?

Prediction: Shalrie gets some minutes in Cruzeiro match for a warm up. Hipflexor ready to rock. Back in Revs starting lineup for Tornto on 5//22 -may not play full 90 - Revs win 2-1. Full 90 on 5/29 at home vs. NYRB. 1-1 tie.Thread closed.
