franchino definitely got some luggage i wish i had photo-shopped picture of carpenter carrying some luggage with "luggage?" at the top of the image nothing like having your cy young winner and candidate beat someone on his team with his money maker
It's funny to see people waste so much time on something which is impossible to judge. Dempsey is the only authority on what he "intended" and unless we want to impugn his word, I'll accept it, unless something on the field brazenly contradicts it. Given his body language, technique, and everything else, I see nothing to suggest he's trying to take credit for something he didn't do. Phenomenal and INTENTIONAL goal from Deuce.
BBC Radio commentary of the second half. Clint's goal build up about 39:40, but well worth listening to before that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00rgm1l/5_live_Sport_Europa_League_200910_Fulham_v_Juventus/
Technically, Clint signed a week or two before Davies. But yes, those are the only two players left from the Chris Coleman era.
Exactly, although Davies appeared before Clint, so its a toss up. Clint also has significantly higher number of appearances in the league over last year's player of the season. Working on my summary of last night.
This is rediculious. Did he mean it??? Are you serious? Of course he did! He went for the lob/chip outside the box, and went for it. Did he know whether he was going to hit that corner or not? No. But he went for it, and went for it as a 'goal'.
The presenters of the show currently on TalkSport have said they're surprised it isn't 100% that he meant it
Just had a thought. If Konchesky somehow managed to make LB for England and Dempsey starts out right for the US, they will go head to head. Great match up because Konchesy loves to go wide and cross and dempsey is pretty darn good at forcing player narrow. Conversely, Dempsey likes to go narrow and Konchesky is pretty adept and giving you nothing useful.
Demps said in his interview that he was going "far post" with it. With a chip like that, far post is a great strategy as if the ball winds up inside the post, it is a goal, if outside the post, a dangerous ball for someone to crash onto.
I have to admit when I saw it, I thought it was more a chip to a dangerous position than straight out "keeper's cheating too much, I'm gonna bite the upper v" chip shoot. Not that he was crossing, but more that he felt, as a player does when the make an lateral to goal run, that putting back across to the far post might make something good happen. He does not have to see the keeper or Zamora to know that if he's moving right, far post left is dangerous spot for the ball to be.
I just keep playing it over and over from 39:50 to about 20 seconds after. It's still hard to believe it really happened. I love the wall of sound that almost drowns everything out. That crowd was insane!
