Don't really care if he reads it or not, but it'd be nice to thank him. thought you had been? Its funny to see how much that ground has changed since I first started going, but I am sure its nothing compared to the changes Clan, Dr. I and AndyB have seen.
understood. Its a good ground though imo and although at times the atmosphere is questioned, I think its one of the better game day atmospheres I have experienced. I still do miss the older days when Fulham Road and the ground was not as developed as it really felt like a different game day experience. Coming out of Fulham Broadway and turning left to see a see of blue, walking by the smells of the old Chelsea Cafe (always smelt better after a few) and then getting through the turnstiles and racing up the steps to see that pitch.... ah, those where the days. I am glad the pitch is now a lot closer than it ever was and for the most part there are only a few seats left with a restricted view. Its definately a lot more family friendly as well which is great if you want to take your youngsters one day.
Thanks for the replies, I'll probably just send something to the stadium address. fern - It was my first time to the Bridge, and it seems as if there's not much of an atmosphere outside of the Shed End and Mathew Harding stands. I guess it's not much of a surprise considering the number of families/older folks/rich high brow people/people who can't speak English that go to the games and don't want to be near the passionate supporters. Still, it was an awesome experience and the next time I go I'm going to try and make absolutely sure I get to sit in either the Shed End or Mathew Harding stand.
the East stand has always traditionally been the high brow crowd with several going just to be seen. Thankfully over the years, I have sat in every part of that ground including a few areas which are no longer standing as well . The atmosphere is definately better in the Matthew Harding and Shed End, with the West Stand being alright at times as well. I would say that your feelings on where you sat and where you want to sit, keep in mind its sometimes very hard to get a ticket in the Matthew Harding and Shed, are spot on for your next visit.
Lamps. Join CIA mate. The small allocation of tickets we get are in the Shed. I sat near the corner by the West in the Shed lower, and there was a good amount of singing and standing. As for the atmosphere outside of the ground, I wasn't even paying much attention to that as I was fighting to put lack of sleep and jet lag in my back pocket, but also because I was going back and forth between the So Bar and Morrisons pub. Warmed up the vocal chords in the So and then had a pint with some mates down the street. It was a great day out. I'll have to continue my Celery Report.
