Rule of thumb is 1 point per game escapes relegation. Nice goal for Jozy. He was working so hard for the team today as he has been since he came back from leave so it's great he finally broke through. There have been occasions where Jozy had decent looks this season where he seemed rushed or overexcited. So it was nice to see him stroke that one first time, nice and smooth, right to his spot.
Well taken goal he played very well today. I think his ability to hold up the ball and maintain possession has improved immensely since the start of the season.
Hull probably won't beat anyone on goal differential. They're currently worst in the league. One more way to look at it: the team in the relegation zone with the most points per game (Wolves) has 21 points in 23 games. That rate will take you to 34.7 points over a season. Round up (or round up and add one for regression to the mean), add 1 because Hull probably won't beat anyone on goal differential, and Hull needs 36 (or 37) points to avoid the drop. That's 12 or 13 points in the next 13 games.
Something about an American from New Jersey named Jozy with a team mate named Fagan puts me in the mood for some "Steely Dan -Josie". "So Good. He's the pride of the neighborhood." [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VKIfmC2N0M"]YouTube- Steely Dan Josie[/ame] A little artistic license please because the song is about a chick- I know.
out of curiosity and perhaps something that may be used by people going to SA this summer (winter over there) ..What were those chants like that Mancini is protesting about? http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=269894&cc=5901#quotes Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini criticised the Hull fans who subjected Wayne Bridge to a series of personal chants on his return to the side. Terry was roundly booed during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Hull at the KC on Tuesday and Bridge was also singled out by the home fans this afternoon.
That's from skysports.com, which also gave Jozy man-of-the-match honors. As for player ratings, Jozy got an 8 from the skysports.com panel.
So clearly they have internet access in the cave you reside in otherwise you wouldn't be able to post on here. So it escapes me as to how you could possibly be unaware that John Terry was boinking Wayne Bridges wife. It's why Terry has had the England captaincy taken away from him. In a related note...for those going to South Africa, I came up with a little song, sung to the tune of London Bridges. Bridge's wife is going down, going down, going down. Bridge's wife is going down On John Terry.
No matter what points value you think Hull needs, they just got 4 points from Chelsea and Manchester City in a span of 4 days. Was anyone planning on that happening? If they could play like this for a few more games, we won't need to be debating the points anymore.
I just thought it was his ex-girlfriend, not his wife. Which makes it not really that big a deal, at least when compared to our friends Harkes and Wynalda.
A shame the girl wasn't Bridge's wife, but just a girlfriend. That might have worked in SA. Nice facts you got there.
I haven't seen anything about an injury and he tweeted shortly after the game, so it must not have been serious.
I HAD NO IDEA! THANK YOU! i referred to the content of the chants (ie lyrics), not their topic.... I know Hull supporters had chants for John Terry when they drew them just recently...I was wondering if they had EXTRA, different chants dedicated to Bridge during the match today...
Didn't look too serious... I think I saw Jozy stretching his quad on the sideline immediately after Zaki replaced him. I'll have to look at the video tape again.
He stole the ball a couple of times coming back on D, today. And did the same vs Chelsea. He was a one-man machine out their today vs Manchester City. Truth is if he was English,Brazilian, etc. he would be worth $40 Million right now.
$40 million, nah. . $25 million is probable though. Get your heads out of your a$$e$ people. He's a 20 year old striker who has been MOTM multiple times in the best league in the world. That's not even close to being common.
I have to admit. I was singing that to myself while driving in rush-hour Thursday night. It's catchy.
Hadn't seen Jozy in the last couple of games, but thought today he's come on leaps and bounds from what I've seen before. I've thought he's not been good at using his body (please don't bring up the goal vs Spain - he was manhandled otherwise that game), but today he was great at that. Really happy he scored the goal - it looked like it meant so much to him as well. Let's hope this progress continues.
I think what I like the most is that his goal was a first time placement strike. He didn't try too much, just what needed to be done. His muscle/size/slow-up game has gotten much, much better. So it was great to see him score in a quite different manner. Off a very smart run with a nice little one touch ball to the corner.
