Hi everyone , we need to applaude the island of Guadeloupe for there recent successes in Gold Cup . For the past 2 Gold cup Guadeloupe have make the caribbean proud and it is only fair if we reward them to host the 2010 Caribbean Nations Cup . Its about time the french speaking Caribbean do there part . We need somewhere a little isolated for the 2010 Caribbean Nations Cup and Guadeloupe would be the perfect place. Thanks.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) I think i read somewhere that is Haiti, which will host the next edition of the Digicel Caribbean Cup in 2010. True, Guadeloupe has the ability to organize such a competition but until we have things to settle in our country.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Can Guadeloupe attract players who are living/born in France to play for the national team of Guadeloupe?
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Any info regarding the format? I've seen the schedule on CFU's website (pdf file). It seems there will be knockout round, followed by a group stage with 4 groups and the the final stage. Knock-out Round First leg: March 13–14 Second leg: April 10–11 Group A July 21–25 Group B August 4–8 Group C August 18–22 Group D September 1–5 Final stage November 1–15 Cayman Islands already preparing for the knock-out round, according Cayman Net News.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) But of course! Since the Digicel Caribbean Cup 2006-07, players born or living in France or elsewhere are selecting in Guadeloupe's national team. Indeed, if one of their parents or grandparents is coming from Guadeloupe, there's no problem!
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) How is this arranged, because i'm from Suriname and there it is not possible. Will players from france loose their french passport and get a passport of Guadeloupe? Or they will get a dual nationality?
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Guadeloupe are not FIFA members - so there's no problem for a French player with (grand)parents from Guadeloupe to play for them and still be available for the French NT.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) The problem with Suriname is they do not allow dual nationality. Suriname is an independent country so they have no official ties with the Netherlands. Guadeloupe is literally a part of France (they even use the Euro) and thats why its not problem (and why they can't be FIFA members).
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Am hearing Trinidad & Tobago will host the final again .
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) T&T is already hosting the women's under 17 WC. in 2010. I don't think that they will want to host another event in the same year.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Much respect to Guadelope. Many thought that it was not possible for a small island to get this far.Congratulations!
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) They hosted the Concacaf Champions league in 2009 , the Concacaf U20 in 2009 , the CFU Leg of the women under20 in 2009 ,the women under17 in 2010 and the Caribbean Nations Cup in 2010 wow !
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) 13370 reads the future because it's official, Guadeloupe will organize the next Digicel Caribbean Championships in december. It's a nice reward for our football after our performance at the Gold Cup in 2007 and 2009.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) I really don't know if Haiti will play again this year. For now the only concern of Haiti is to rebuild the country after this earthquake tragedy. However the team of Haiti will still be able to play its games in Miami where is a strong haitian community. It already happened in the past! Ironically Haiti was expected to receive the final stage of the Digicel Caribbean Championships. Finally the Caribbean tournament will be played at home in Guadeloupe. In any case i extend my condolences to all families in Haiti!
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) The Surinamese government will give 1 million dollar and send food, water, medicine and equipment to Haiti. And we express our condolences to all Haitians. It's a sad thing to see our caricom brothers suffering because of this disaster.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Terrible for our brethern.Guyana is also ready to help with one million dollar and everything they need to help those poor people.my condolences to for them.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Does anyone know how CFU have seeded teams for previous Caribbean Championship / Caribbean Nations Cup draws? I could find no info and came up with a Caribbean NT coefficient.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) Suriname made the Semifinals in World Cup Qualifying but still finished behind two areas that aren't countries, Guadeloupe and Martinique, in Edgar's rankings. Edgar, can you tell me how many points from all the countries/areas that aren't countries combined came from WCQs and how many from Caribbean/Gold Cup games? I want to know how much of a disadvantage you would say Guadeloupe and Martinique are at. I'm looking at the formulas and if there are 33,000 points for each Hexagonal game then shouldn't Trinidad and Tobago have 330,000 just from that component? They have 39,821 total. Did you divide each country's total by a certain amount to make the numbers smaller?
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) I'll do that on Wednesday. For non-FIFA CFU members, only the 2008-2009 Caribbean Championship and Gold Cup results will count for the ranking, since non-FIFA members can't compete in the WCQs. The total is divided by the number of matches played.
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) I know that. My point was that we need to know what you said you would do on Wednesday in order to quantify the disadvantage. Can you post the number of matches played for each team also?
Re: Caribbean Nations Cup 2010 (Guadeloupe) My condolences goes out to the people of haiti . For the 1st time a francophone country (Guadeloupe) will host a Caribbean Nations Cup , ever since the competition started ,the finals have always been played in english speaking cities like, Port of Spain , Bridgetown, kingston etc. This year Caribbean Football Union have reached a milestone by letting Guadeloupe host the finals .It shows the caribbean dont just speak english but french, spanish ,dutch with mixtures of african and indian .This Caribbean Nations Cup will be special and I hope all who participate enjoy
