Just curious. I am excited, because Marvel Films has begun shooting for Thor. I know, he was a Norse God, but he does have a character w/ Stan Lee's Marvel & was a part of the Avengers. So what Comics do you like??? I like the Xmen, but have much love for Shi & Spawn. Also see we are on a Chelsea Board, anyone ever read Crecy??? Let's keep this going!!!!
SabreTooth will eat up Wolverine Sabretooth, Apocalypse, & Juggernaut are my favorite villains. I also like Tengu-Master, but that is from an x-rated comic book. Yes, I am a serious comic book junkie. I love to sit on my patio, smoke cigars & read comics.
Personally I'm a big fan of Venom and Kraven. My older cousin gave me a box of some old comics years ago. I had some of the earlier X-Men issues and Wolverine issues. Barnes and Noble sells these books that have several of the first issues from the Marvel series put together. I need to get a few when I can.
Spider-Man was always my favorite. Don't read a whole lot anymore, but Ultimate Spider-Man is great stuff. Rising Stars was a great series/graphic novel whatever you want to call it.
I still have a few real comics lying around but lately I've been useing the digital comic service on the psp which is awesome. Dont get me wrong, paper is still better but being able to buy and download whole series in bed is pretty win in my book. Just Batman. Eddie switched me over. Though I have maybe half a dozen only, not a big graphic novel guy but I do enjoy the movies for a bit of escapism. Also have Watchmen (from before the movie) - really enjoyed that.
KDB, I did like Batman when I was young buck. I had this one Batman comic w/ Wolverine. It was from the Brave & the Bold series w/ Marvel. They were battling this guy called El Zapato (shoemaker??). That was back in the late seventies or early eighties. I must confess, I was introduced to comics via DC Comics. You know Superman, Batman, Aquaman. Quick question, does Heavy Metal mags qualify as comic books??? Love those as well!!!
The Japanese changed the intro to the X-men cartoons for something more win... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfjAbXrvkFw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfjAbXrvkFw[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8HkDMht3d4&NR=1"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8HkDMht3d4&NR=1[/ame]
Since we have escalated to videos, check out my way's version of the Juggernaut: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRMqKE3KID8]The Juggernaut[/ame]
I'm excited about Thor. The casting already looks great: Natalie Portman ... Jane Foster Chris Hemsworth ... Thor Samuel L. Jackson ... Nick Fury Anthony Hopkins ... Odin Kat Dennings ... Darcy Ray Stevenson ... Volstagg Idris Elba ... Heimdall Stellan Skarsgård ... Professor Andrew Ford Rene Russo ... Frigga Tom Hiddleston ... Loki Jaimie Alexander ... Sif Simply an awesome cast. It should be a very good movie. As per the thread topic, I haven't been into comics since my teens, but I do have an embarrassingly extensive knowledge of all things Marvel, (since I grew up reading the comics) so I get excited about all these new Marvel films popping up. It's like childhood fantasies coming to life.
Preacher is amazing. Just started reading it, I've got the first three graphic novels. I'm completely hooked. I'm also reading DMZ and Transmetropolitan right now. I also read Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Batman, and Justice League. The Flash: Rebirth is good, but not as good as Green Lantern: Rebirth was. I feel weird, I've completely stopped reading anything Marvel puts out, DC is just miles better, imo.
Anything/Everything by Neil Gaiman (Signal To Noise my favorite) Various incarnations of Batman, etc. Right now I am making my way through Gotham Central and enjoying it most heartily.
For those of you that aren't aware, Chris Evans has been officially cast as Captain America. Thoughts?
Better than the rest of the options on the shortlist. Wasn't great in Fantastic Four but did pretty good in Sunshine. More concerned about Joe Johnston directing honestly.
