Ives pointed out that Seb Hines has 3 days to decide to switch his allegiances: Hopefully he realizes he has more of a chance to be a useful player with us F me, that title should read May 29 - mod can you please change
Re: Seb Hines: May 19th deadline! this is more his decision than ours. Bob has not called him up, because he remains a reserve defender and we haven't heard from him yet. I predict this thread will be closed in 3 days.
Re: Seb Hines: May 19th deadline! Wow, I'm bursting with excitement. If he wanted to play for the US, he should have switched before the Olympics, when he'd have had a decent shot at making the US team. This isn't to say he won't emerge as a good player down the line or someday be better than what the US has at CB. But, I don't see him abruptly switching to the US at this point, though if I'm wrong I'll come back and admit it.
Re: Seb Hines: May 19th deadline! If he switches at least he gives himslf a chance to play internationally someday -- England have lots of young talented centrehalves and we don't.
Am I correct that, due to the new FIFA ruling, Seb Hines can still play for us (for the same reason that Arturo Alvarez was able to switch to El Salvador)? This is a crucial season for him, by the way. With Middlesbrough dropping a level, he theoretically should have a better chance to play than if they were in the Premiership. However, he has spent time on loan in lower levels at Derby County and Oldham Athletic, and failed to impress or even get playing time.
yes, he can still change... and with Huth being sold, he moves up in the depth chart... real question... is he any good? another question, off topic... how did Henri Lansbury do for you all?
Eh the reason I checked this thread out is that I'm playing Football Manager 2009 atm... managing USA to WC2014 + Hines is one of my starting defenders atm.... didn't know who the f... he was though.... just he was starting for Leeds United in the premiership in 2013....
Apparantly he started for Middlesbrough in their last CCC game. I was salivating for another dual national player after Jones got hurt and Castillo aprroved. The bad news is that he got beat for the first goal and picked up a yellow. Borough also signed some PNE defender on a 3 month loan and a buy option in january. Their website says that he got very strong as the match wore on though. It could be straight back to the reserves for him if this PNE guy is any good. They did win the game 3-1, so maybe he played well minus the card and goal.
Seconded. Marshall, Gonzalez, Orozco, possibly Cameron, and Opara. That's just off the top of my head.
Re: Seb Hines @ Boro So this guy is still eligible for the USA, all he has to do is apply for a switch. Sadly he just got injured. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5775731,00.html
Re: Seb Hines @ Boro So just when he was about to start because of injuries in the backline, he injures his knee in a reserve match? Kinda like our Gooch at AC Milan who got injured in a WC Quali. Hopefully it's nothing serious
I can hardly believe that Seb has only played 8 professional matches in his career to date. He was making the bench with regularity a couple years ago with 'Boro. Despite only being 21 years old, English youngsters get lots of opportunities to play professional matches by dropping down a few levels on loan. Here's hoping he gets healthy and starts playing.
Seb has made the bench the last couple of mathces for Middlesbourough, unfortunately he didn't get in as they had lost 1-0 in 2 straight games. He's on the bench today for 'Boro vs Bristol City. Note: 'Boro is near the bottome of the championship right now. iwth 11 points in 13 games.
Oh! One of the half-dozen best players at his position the United States has ever produced? He must be pretty good!
hmm not sure if this is right thread but its the only Seb Hines thread I could find, Seb Hines went 90 in Middlesbrough 3-2 win over Milwall, can we still use his one time switch to play for the USA?
Yes, we can. Admittedly, he has fallen off of my radar, but if this is his first real PT in awhile, I suggest we lay off the nats talk for a few weeks
With this CB pool any start is a warrant for some sort of look whether its a camp callup or what have you...We have a very limited amount of true CB's in the pool plying their trade abroad. Boss Onyewu Whitbread Hines Goodson Parkhurs
