calabro admitted in post game interviews that he really likes playing with honda and his understanding with him is great and knows immediately what to do when Honda shoots.

I completely agree with that. I hope he stays in J league. Nagoya maybe? The last thing we need is a first choice player for the national team sitting on the bench before the World Cup. Twente would be a very good place though if he can get playing time. Not sure if epl is the place for Tulio.

    Re: Japanese Abroad 2009/10 [R]

Honda said that Calabro told him to just keep the shots coming, and if his attempt is not successful, Calabro will finish the job.

As for "congratulating & thanking", it's just about 2 egos with a healthy rivalry... VVV should be happy about having 2 players who are that hungry for goals so much so that they get upset if they don't score. And the clips don't show that H, after initial disappointment of failing to score himself, went on to congratulate C. So no big story.

According to post-match-comments by Honda, there is a shift in his role as he is shadowed every match, so we will eventually see him assisting either on or off the ball more than rather trying to finish every attacking move.

Matsui turned on the style against Lyon.

    Matsui is back?
But what will he do when Grenoble is almost certainly relegated?

If he keeps up that workrate, he's sure to be snapped up by one of the bigger teams in Ligue 1.

Don't underestimate the Ligue, he will have to be more efficient to sign with Lyon, Marseille or Bordeaux.
But a team like Lorient or Auxerre, I wouldn't say no.

He promised he will return to Kyoto.
He did not say when, but I won't be too surprised if it is sooner than later.
I believe it will all depend on what offers he gets at the end of this (European) season.

A Twente delegation is currently (and officially) in Japan. So it looks like the deal will be finalised pretty soon.

    That sounds serious.
Do you have an opinion on him as a player?

I don't watch the J-League so I can only go on what other people say and on that friendly Japan played v the Netherlands. I have utter faith in my club's scouting team though. We're league leaders while we have not even half the budget of clubs like Ajax and PSV, you do the math. What worries me about all of this is that we're buying a a central defender probably because we're at risk of losing our very brilliant central defender Douglas, but I won't bother people here with that.

Yea, I figured your opinion would probably be based on the friendly -- which may or may not be a good impression. I didn't expect you to watch JLeague. :)
FWIW, he's somewhat of a Libero and gets involved in the attack from time to time. That can be great sometimes and really bad at others. I don't know how that kind of central defender fits in Eredivisie or, more importantly, FC Twente.
Like you say Twente is an excellent club -- I'd love to see him (or Honda or any other player) try to ply their trade there. I've always wanted to see more J-Leaguers move to Eredivisie and especially at a club like Twente.

    Re: Japanese Abroad 2009/10 [R]

More than a CB, Tulio is an old style libero.

His temper, his will and physical strength allows him to play all-field, and to be often decisive--that is when he is in good shape.

He tends to be a bit hot-tempered, so when he is experiencing "one of those days," you might expect troubles and finish with 10 players.

Overall he is one of the best Japanese players ever, even if he is NOT coming from a good season.

I wish him the best in Holland.

Matsui scored against Lorient! And his team are leading as I write, 2-1. They've improved very recently. I hope they keep it.

I must remind you that you could have conveyed the same concept without calling a forum-mate "idiot."

Can you please count till 10 before you post a message? I do believe you do not mean to be evil, but we're trying to keep a friendly tone around here...

the espanyol game was painful to watch. Shunsuke couldn't do anything with the ball except pass back. He has no confidence and will not gamble on any forward passes or dribble. this does not look goood.

Morimoto can't do anything at Catania. He's completely alone, Mascara and Martinez are far away from him struggling to turn around to be in front of the game. Takayuki is running a lot for nothing.

I think it's time for both Naka and Morimoto to leave, but Morimoto needs to score some more goals this season to get some offers.

Naka will probably go home to Japan soon, to bad his european career most likely will end like a failure :(

    Re: Japanese Abroad 2009/10 [R]

We could really use him in Bordeaux. With Gourcuff, Diarra and Plasil (or Fernando) in midfield, he would have the possibility to do marvels again.

And it would be in Champion's league, not in this poor liga.;)

Man U is the right club for Morimoto, but he has to be better than Berbatov, Owen, Macheda and Welbeck to play... don't say it's impossible, I said it for young Obertan and he already played a lot.

    Re: Japanese Abroad 2009/10 [R]

Obertan is really good. Thats why he plays a lot. He's got pace and a lot of dribbling skills. Owen sucks. Berbatov plays well sometimes but meh... he's average to me. I don't rate Macheda and Welbecks highly either. I think Morimoto has more potential than both of them but Manchester United need a proven striker to help Rooney out. They won't be able to beat Chelsea without that.
