According to major Portuguese sports publications O Jogo, Record and Abola, Freddy Adu will receive a start in a league game in European football for the first time on Monday afternoon for Belenenses against Nacional.

Adu benefits as two of his teammates are unavailable. Yonchta is out due to a knee injury and Fredy is with the Portuguese U-21s.

Reports have said that Belenenses has been utilizing a 4-4-2 in full practices, with Lima and Adu as the forwards.

This game should be on Portuguese TV as its the only Portuguese league game during the international break, and therefore there should be multiple streams for the action. The reason why this game is being played during the international break is because Belenenses had to cancel the match against Nacional 2 weeks ago because of a concert.

Concert taking place at the same time as the game was scheduled. You know, like happens in MLS all the time.

How dare you talk about the MLS? According to Garber it is better than the European leagues and every league should follow the way it is run. You know like pay soccer players $34K.:D

Yeah it was apparently a Portuguese rock group called Xutos & Pontapés that were scheduled the night of the game.

Here's a preview of the game with likely starting XI's at the bottom.

I'm hyped for the game. All major portuguese sport newpapers/sites put Freddy as starter. Should be a good game. Nacional is a good team, currently in the Europa League group stage after having eliminated Zenit to get there. Be sure to watch out for Ruben Micael, probably the best non-big 3 portuguese player playing in Portugal.

Here's to hoping that Freddy can make his mark.

My limited experience with ATDHE is that the streams don't start working until right about kickoff time.

    1. Cameraman has a thing for Freddy.

    2. Everyone in the Belenenses lineup is much taller than Adu. :D
