All, Apologies for the non raihawks related post, but I didn't see this posted on the US Fans/Travel section. Will there be any organized events for the US-Honduras qualifier in the Triangle? Failing that, does anyone have plans to go to one of the scheduled spanish-language broadcasts in Raleigh or Durham? Thx.
I intend to attend one of the spanish-language showings. More details later in the week. I tried hard to arrange an english-language showing but the bar and the distributor could not agree on a "reasonable" price.
Damn, that's disappointing. Are American Outlaws planning a trip to one of these locations? I'm not worried for my life or anything, but I'd prefer to be in a group to watch this game.
Ok, thanks to Jarrett. Per the poster above, I'd like to go to a bar where I know at least some US supporters will be. It'd be great to see this in English with US fans but it's one of those 'is what is' situations. The Honduran fans in Chicago were great, so hopefull there'll be a good vibe at the closed-circuit showing.
Regarding an English viewing of the game, I had spoken with a rep at Integrated Sports, who mentioned that XL Soccer World had shown interest. But today I emailed Rich King there who replied that Integrated Sports wanted a thousand dollars to show it. I wish I could guarantee him a hundred people at $10 each, but he still wouldn't be making any profit. Does anyone know what the cover charge might be at one of the Spanish-language venues?
XL Soccer World was the "bar" I was talking about earlier in the thread. I was working directly with Integrated Sports on this. I told them they were full of it if they thought they could get $1000 for the english language rights. Rich and I had a plan to go back to them with a low ball offer this week but now that we know there are two spanish-language locations in the Triangle, I suggest we just head to one of those locations. You usually can't hear the audio in a bar very well anyway. We have confirmed the following location: HONDURAS RESTAURANT 919-824-2737 1121 UNIVERSITY DR. DURHAM NC 27707 Cover charge will be $20 (the owner says he's paying $2000 for the spanish language rights). The place appears to be more "bar" than restaurant and I have no idea if it is 21 and over only late on Saturday night. If you are under 21, I suggest calling the place. The owner says US fans are more than welcome to come. There is a second location in the Triangle that we have not confirmed yet. I will try to go by there tomorrow and check it out: CENTRO CERVECERO LA AZONOA 919-673-5616 4000 ATLANTIC AVE RALEIGH NC 27604

Thanks, wjarrettc. Gee, with a name like that, I wonder who the majority of patrons will be rooting for? I will be there. Looking forward to it.
So who all is going and what time do you plan on getting there? I will more than likely be there with my brother.
still plan on heading to DC. I'd much rather watch with friends on a big tv as opposed to some random honduran bar in a semi-shady area.
Gordon and I are planning to go the place in Durham. Unfortunately i have not been able to get to place in Raleigh. Anybody else want to scope it out. I'll probably get there about 1/2 hour before kickoff.
The place in Raleigh, Centro Cervesero La Saona, is a fairly gritty looking bar/nightclub in Brentwood Square on Atlantic Avenue, across from the UPS warehouse and just down from the New Hope Church Road light. They were closed when I checked it out yesterday, so I wasn't able to officially confirm that they're showing the game, but they are on the official list of Spanish-language locations.
I think anybody interested in going to see the game should just plan on going to the one in Durham so we can have a larger group of USA fans. I dunno, maybe some of you don't want to drive over to Durham, but I'm coming all the way from Fayetteville, so an extra 15 minutes or so is no big deal to me.
Fellow TSF and American Outlaws member Gordon Kelly is hosting a pre-game party at his place in Chapel Hill for those headed to the Durham watch party. Please join us there if you like! Details below:
Heh, no worries. Light-hearted razzing. It's what we do here at BigSoccer. Fantastic game. I was at the restaurant along with what seemed like 300 Hondurans. Don't know if you all made it. I don't remember what wjarrettc looks like, to be honest.
Sorry I didn't make it out guys. I bet you guys had a great time. Sounds like I missed one helluva match. Here are video highlights for those wanting to re-live it http://tinyurl.com/yhh56jf We've got a new baby in the house and my sleep patterns are all messed up. I couldn't keep my eyes open most of the evening and fell asleep around 8pm. I woke up at 1:30a to find out we'd qualified!
