I think It is the time in which we open a new thread for Japanese players playing abroad in 2009/10, as some European leagues has began this week.

Here is a list of Japanese players playing outside Japan:

VVV drew with PSV today.

Honda was once again the star on the pitch against a "big" (if only in name) team like against the pre-season game against Feyenoord. He had an assist and goal in the game and at one point he made a fool out of PSV's defense. He also could've scored with a header.

Great! Now that he was not transferred, I like to see Honda scoring... especially against the clubs reportedly chasing him this summer.

Yes, I watched the game live, and it ended with 3-3 draw.

It was a good result, and also a good performance by VVV-Venlo against the Dutch giant's, PSV Eindhoven, and it was also an away game for VVV-Venlo, and the first game of the season. What a good match to kick off their season with!!

About the game, VVV started the game confident and determined to come away with a good result, and they have the first dangerous chance when Honda headed a cross in the six-yard box towards goal, but PSV's Swedish keeper Isaksson made a good save, then it was VVV's strikier Sandro Calabro's turn to threaten with another header, and again Isaksson was up to the task.

After this point PSV began to apply pressure on Venlo to score a goal and take the initative, and they got their goal, when Swedish striker Toivonen found Dutch International Nourdine Amrabat unmarked right in the penalty-arc, and played a perfect pass for the dutchman, who didn't hesitate to slam the ball home, and PSV were 1-0 up.

Then, as the first half went to its last minutes, another defending lapse from Venlo give PSV another chance to score, as Toivonen headed home Dzudzak's cross from the left wing from a close range, and PSV finished the first half 2-0.

VVV Venlo, seemed to grow cautious after conceding the first goal, and they lost the confidence they have had at the start of the match, but ten minutes into the second half, Keisuke Hond played a beautiful back-heel pass to his teammate Ahaoahi, who fired the ball into the net, as VVV makes 2-1!

Then it was Honda's turn to score, Honda lined-up in the box for a corner kick, and he was left unmarked almost at the penalty spot, Honda recieved the cross from the corner kick and volleyed the ball home, and it was 2-2.

PSV then tried to get the winner, and they thoght they had it, when Tivonen headed home a corner kick, but VVV wouldn't surrender easily, as Dutch winger Schalken won the ball from PSV and Holland's U-23 defender Marcilies, and ran towards the box, and then fired a shot that found the back of the net, and Venlo were again on level terms with PSV.

The final minutes witnessed chances for both sides, with PSV applying the most pressure, but Venlo was more dangerous and oppotunistic with their chances.

At the end neither team could score, and the game ended 3-3.

I m not sure is it the first debut for Nakamura play for Espanyol against Liverpool. Espanyol beat liverpool 3-0. He have assist the first goal but only play for first half, i give him 6.5/10 for this match.

there is really not a long list of things that are wrong with Honda right about now. If you comprehend it from perspective - he's like a japanese player, who's A: tall/strong. and B: a goalscorer.

Has Osama Elsamni chosen nationality yet?

Honda would have wanted to leave because he thought Venlo would be battling relegation. But this game (whether it was a fluke or not) would make Honda want to stay at a place where he's practically a hero and captain.

Also, in dutch press, immediately after the game now PSV want him.

have a feeling they'd put the shackles on him and restrict his play.

Honda to PSV would really be bad. PSV plays anti-football, all they do is defend and score some lucky goals when the opponent makes a mistake. Honda doesn't belong there.

He should go to Ajax, AZ or even FC Twente. They play the kind of attacking football that suits Honda, and they are all title candidates as well.

Just a quick question: When was the last time that a Dutch team invested 10 million for a player? I don't remember anyone. Players leave the Eredivise but they don't join Dutch teams for such a sum.

Thanks, didn't know that. And, I didn't want to put the Dutch down, I just think that the strength of the Eredivise-top clubs is their youth academies, and not investing huge sums in one single player.

Seeing Honda at VVV really makes me wish more Japanese would go to Eredivisie.
I really hope Koki gets a shot over there before returning to JLeague.

Last week's FC Kopenhagen-Stabaek revisited:

Other than the assist for the away goal, Kobayashi hit the bar in front of the wide open goal... and later had a good direct volley straight into the arms of the keeper. Looking at the digest, with the PK for Kopenhagen maybe disputable, the 3-1 scoreline rather flatters the Danish. Let's hope Stabaek can beat them tomorrow!

From Germany: The only action of Japanese players over the weekend (DFB-cup 1st round) was that Ono was introduced in Bochum's hard fought 1-0 match against Lotte o town's name, 4th tier) in the 89th minute. Hasebe is still recovering from injury, and Kozo Yuki (Fortuna Duesseldorf) didn't play. Wuppertal (Ken Asaeda's 3rd tier club) were not chosen to play the cup, as only 28 clubs from the lower leagues can participate.

Naoya Kikuchi got visit from his Jubilo senpai, Yoshiaki Ota.

Kikuchi himself is apparently on trial at Energie Cottbus (2nd Bundesliga, relegated last season).

Hopefully Ono's appearance means he's making good progress in his recovery, and could start making some regular appearances.

Kojiro Kaimoto has a short term deal at North Queensland Fury but their backline is so shit he could get a permanent gig if he impresses.
