If I understand correctly US supporters have tickets in General (nose-bleed) and Especial Bajo O/P which appears to be the Sur direction. For those receiving USSC tickets does it tell you Norte/Sur? Are the Bajo O/P holders (like me ) convinced we can move up there if we wish?

Do braces count? And I just cleared my Pm box. I'll be there Saturday but couldn't get any tickets in ACB because I waited too long. I have some numbered seats now. And if we go the cab route I'll def let you know about the beforehand.
With respect to the green taxis, it's ok to take them as long as you take a cab that has 4 doors, VW Bugs are a no-no. They're only two door cars...
Cab share request from the aeropuerto: I'm arriving @ 9AM Tuesday Aug. 11 solo. Please PM me if you want to share a cab to the Zona Rosa. THX
there is not green taxis anymore ..... please only take the red wine with gold taxis , are the new colors of the safety taxis .. also no more VW bugs are like taxis .... the most common are the Nissan Tsuru ( i think in USA was the Sentra ) .
My 2 friends and I rented an apartment for the week, in one of the best locations in the city. Check out apartment Tina here: http://www.mexicoapartments.com.mx/home_eng.html If you think you might want to crash for a night, PM me.
you will be located near the celebrations in the Angel de la Independencia after MXNT win the game !! great !!!
hAVE YOUR HOTEL HIRE A DRIVER FOR YOU...200 pESOS AN hOUR! they will wait for you after match and take you back to hotel....Safe, easy, cheap!
but those green bugs are so cheap. they took me across town for less than 20 bucks a few years back. The hotels have personal drivers in own none marked cars. work it out with them to drop/pick up. they will give u cell phone number.
What's wrong with a two door car? The ones I've taken in Mexico City have seat block for a passenger seat allowing two in the back and one - facing backwards - in the passenger seat.
The Taxis with two doors, typically VW beetles (now being replaced by Nissan Sentras), have a reputation for "express kidnappings". The driver will pickup a passenger, drive him to a secluded side street his buddies will enter the car and at gun point the passenger will be taken on a scenic tour of Mexico City's ATM machines, until the the bank suspects something suspicious and shuts off the ATM card; the passenger is then released about 48 hours later. The larger street taxis with four doors are safer, but lately criminal gangs have been painting phony taxis to look like they are legitimate and doing the kidnappings this way. It's best to stick with the official Hotel and Airport Taxis. It's probably best not to take any plastic with you when your exploring MC. Just have a day's spending money in your wallet and enough cab/subway fare to get you back to hotel hidden in your shoe-just in case.
Street smarts are good. Paranoia is overkill. If you're that scared of the world, you should probably just stay home. People get mugged everywhere. And isolated cases get blown up and magnified.
Don't blame the messenger. You asked a question on what the deal was with two door taxis. I answered your question; you're welcome BTW. I never said that every single peerson that enters a two-door taxi is kidnapped. Also, I'm not scared of the world, if you would like me to send you my three filled passports, please provide your address.
Can someone point me in the direction of where I can get a cheap US jersey. I've outgrown my current one
I posted this in another forum for some american friends that are going to Azteca, might be a little helpful.
Ironically, The only place I've seen cheap US Jerseys were the knock-offs that vendors were selling outside Azteca.
Paranoia is overkill until you actually get kidnapped or attacked. I'm going to Mexico City, but not without taking precautions. Mexico City is one of the worst places to be in right now, and that's statistically proven.
Ehh I might just buy a US t-shirt. I'm already spending a lot on this trip as it is and I'm off of work for 3 weeks straight so I'm better off saving the 80 or so bucks on a jersey for now since I won't have income for a while. Thanks though.
Sure, but scary stories don't exactly give a balanced view. Even in the Zona Rosa, I've taken precautions in the past, and made the choice not to walk down streets that were dark. Common sense is a great tool.
